I haven't decided if I like it yet.

I want to but I don't get free to air TV here and can't jump on the net as the PC is in my bedroom and DS is fast asleep in there.

So far it reminds me of Lord of the Rings.

Started out in a nice Hobbity village scene, tore it all down and got industiial like Isengard, now they're forging rings...

DH and the kids are watching, kids all waiting for the Australian team to walk out so they can try and spot DH's team mate. He has been posting behind the scenes photo's on FB for the past 12 hours, looks very interesting.

Both him and DH have just found out their trainer passed away last night though, bit of mixed emotions at the moment. :(

I am enjoying looking at Bond and thoroughly enjoying him.

I wonder what the queen is really thinking? She looked a little awestruck and proud at the same time. It would have to be a pretty big night for her.

Not sure I understand the NHS part, would be like us celebrating Medicare - very odd.

^ oh yes, oh my... :D

NHS and GOSH, very mixed emotions seeing the children in the beds, these happy dancing children are so far from the reality of a child sick in the hospital.

Yes I thought so too (about the NHS and the dancing kids).

I'm finding this much like all opening ceremonies really. I don't like opening ceremonies but I always watch the damn things in case something really cool happens. And then I always come away thinking the best part was the athletes arriving and the lighting of the cauldron and they should have saved their money on the rest of it..

I'm watching but am not happy about it. Husband woke me up, snoring and neglecting alarms, after 3.5 hrs broken sleep :( Ah well. Opening ceremonies are better than regular 5am tv!

I always suspect it's better on tv. I would have no idea what was going on half the time without the commentary.

Miss nearly 4 was scared at the black monsters running around and she too questioned why are the kids in bed and dancing.

Frankie and June are cute but I must be missing a big bit of english culture/history/relevance

Frankie Goes to Hollywood seems a bit risque

No George Michael?

I wonder if they will play Amy Whinehouse (sp?)

My miss nearly 2 is laughing her head off and really enjoying the show.

Don't know about Frankie and June but there was Coronation Street and Fawlty Towers. The whole musich thing is okay.

Rumour has it that Muhamed Ali will light the cauldron, according to Channel 9. Don't know...

I am really enjoying the ceremony, DH and I set the alarm to get up and watch it.

My parents are both from the UK and I understand most of the symbolism so that helps.

The NHS is such a huge part of their history, not at all like Medicare so it was great that they included it.

I LOVED the Mr Bean part and I am really enjoying the history of british music.

Haven't heard that one. I'd be willing to bet my house against it though. They're not going to let an American light the cauldron.

I'd be expecting someone like Daley Thompson.

I've been up watching since the start!

I'm liking it, it's different and a little out the box so it's interesting.

I think I maybe a little to young to understand some of it. I didn't understand the hospital scenes. I did find the big baby head a little morbid.
