Congrats Gina on the birth on Merinda! What a wonderful chrissy present! Sounds like it was a fantastic birth too!

I have missed so much but wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a fab chrissy too.

I had my NT scan on Christmas and got my results back on Tuesday. They came back high risk, so I am off to Brisbane on the 21st for an amnio, this will be the longest 3 weeks of my life I think, and then of course I have to wait for the results...

I will hopefully be back in more often...

Hi all

Amy - what was you risk??? I know it is easier said than done but try not to stress about it. It is quite common to get a high risk but for the amnio to be totally clear. I had a high risk with Tyler. I was 1:175 and opted to have the CVS instead of the Amnio because I couldn't handle waiting the extra few weeks. We had to drive 1500kms to have it done and then wait 2 weeks for the results. I was a mess. The hospital was brilliant, they put us thru Genetic Counselling and they looked after us soooo well. In the end our results were all good, and Tyler is now a very healthy and intelligent 5 year old. Do ypu have the option to have the CVS? It can be done alot earlier. It is very slightly higher risk of miscarriage, but for me I just needed to know. Good luck, and keep us updated. :bighug:

I hope you all have a great new year. I am looking forward to 2010.

Mandy, my risk is 1:190, I wasn't offered a CVS as I only had this week to get it done and apparently Brisbane Ultrasound for Women is closed this week. Thanks for your re-assuring story. It is good to hear stories like yours. Apparently the ultrasound is what did it, my bloods weren't 'that bad'. I am taking comfort in that at the moment as the sonographer wasn't having much luck at getting a good angle or something so hopefully it was just that. The nuchal fold was apparantly 3.8mm.

Well better get back to it, I am sorting out my linen cupboard in an effort to keep myself busy!

Happy New Year eveyone!!!

Dons - I was in bed by about 10pm. Troy and the kids lasted til midnight. Sad isn't it!! :)

Terri - I hope your holiday gets better (if your still away that is).

Amy - the fact that your bloods were good is very reassuring. Mine was the same, Tylers nuchal fold was measuring 4mm, but apparently my bloods were pretty good. When we got down to the specialist he was very confident that all would be fine because of that. He said that the measurement is not always 100% accurate, so if the bloods come back good that is a great sign. Good luck with it all!!

We are down at Troys mums at the moment. We flew down yesterday arvo and arrived about 9pm last night. We didn't tell anyone we were coming so was a big surpise for everyone.

Anyways, heres to a great 2010 for everyone.

Hi everyone,

Well we had a pretty good new years eve. Went to a friends house for a bbq and we stayed up until 2am! Even Jessica was still awake! Got a sleep in until about 8am so not too bad.

Off to visit my dad tomorrow. He is still in hospital and very grumpy apparently. He is still not allowed to eat but hopefully that will change in a couple of days time.

amy - try not to stress too much that will only do damage. Hope the next couple of weeks fly by for you.

mandy - enjoy your time at your inlaws place.

kathreen - thats excellent that your bleeding has stopped hope it is gone for good. 16 weeks already - bet its been really slow for you though.

terri - hope the holidays is getter better.

troops - just wanted to say i finally noticed the new pic on facebook - your new man looks nice!

I am still on holidays this week - yeehaa - will be home alone on mon, tues, wed and thursday!

Happy new year everyone :) Another year of Friendship begins with you all :)

Amy - Lachlan was 3.2mm and I had the amino and make sure you get fish results they can give you a result within 2 days. With the amino, I found it uncomfortable but did not hurt everyone is different though. Make sure you rest as much as possible after it... Good luck sweetheart, I know how much it hurts and plays on your mind all the time xxx

Terri - hugs for you sounds like itwas a downer

Most of you are aware of my childhood. Suffice to say that people who were not affected chose the 'happy reunion' to call said 'a**hole' and direct obscenities to him whilst referring to me in a derogatory manner (like I was a willing participant). They had absolutely no regard for my feelings or how it will affect me.

So I packed and left.

Sucked big time, and now still paying for it emotionally.

Jodie- Sounds like you had a great new years eve- I was in bed asleep by 830pm ( :secret: don't tell anyone how lame I am, lol) Good luck seeing you Dad today.

Paula- Thanks so much for you kind words! They mean alot to me. I only just logged into facebook this morning and got your msg about Darlings Downunder. I will try and reply today. All I can say it is very hard work, but it is enjoyable all the same.

Dons- Thanks for telling me about your freinds results. Sorry's like that really do help! Good to see I wasn't the only one with a lame New Years, lol.

DH told the IL's about our results and that we are having further testing etc and MIL was around yesterday and just said to me 'So Amy what is this about abnomalities...' I mean WTF couldn't she have worded it just a little be better!!!

Well better go we are extending our patio and DH needs me help with something.

Talk soon

Hi everyone, :)

I'm going to try and jump back in with posting on eb, I've not made time to come on for ages now and I miss it!

We had a lovely Christmas and NY's but didn't do anything too exciting. We had a bbq for some family on Christmas Day, a kind of NY bbq the day before NYE, and I spent NY's drinking on my own while DH put his motorbike back together after having it in a million pieces to replace a couple of things and clean it out. He did come out for a drink with me after I ventured into the garage to wish him a Happy New Year though! I love NY's...lots of new possibilities and choices to make...there is something about a full year ahead of you that makes you able to see what you want a bit easier, well it's that way for me anyway. I have a million and one things I want to accomplish, which obviously won't happen, but I enjoy working out my priorities. I'm such a dag. Lol

Amy - I'm not even sure if I'd heard you were pregnant! Congratulations!! As for the testing, try not to worry (I know, much easier said than done!)...I hope everything is just fine.

Terri - I don't know what happened in your childhood :( Hope you're feeling ok now.

Kathreen - how's everything going for you? No more bleeding? Hope you're getting loads of rest!

Must run xx

Hi again! I just rang the local pre-school to get Jasper in for this year. There's a waiting list but because he's the oldest he's moved to the top of it immediately. He would love it I think, and definitely needs the socialising, having only been in care away from me for 3 days in his life. Is everyone else putting their big 3yr old in pre-school or is it more usual to wait for 4yrs?

xx

Hi pinkbug - jessica is staying in childcare as she's been there since 11 months old and i have enough trouble getting her to go there let alone moving her to a brand new preschool. They actually have a preschool program at her childcare centre but she probably won't move into it until later in the year or next year.

eta - just wanted to say i saw my dad on sunday - he is still in hospital but he is doing ok just getting very bored. He looks so much older as he has lost most of his hair from the chemo. Still has a long recovery ahead - will be in hospital for about 2 more weeks and should be able to finally eat something in the next day or two.

amy - hope the testing goes well for you.

terri - how you feeling now?

Hi Girls - just a few questions....

How long do happy hormones last post baby....I still haven't had a teary and today is day 12  lol....

And - the other thing...re BF. Merinda has finally found her lungs ;) and is a feeding machine and real booby baby - just has to hang onto it even if she has finnished feeding and hates to be put down but refuses to take a dummy and hates being wrapped and I mean HATES having her arms wrapped up!

Anyway....for the first 10 days I had massive boobs and then we walked into town and home again on sunday arvo with the kids (7kms each way but easy walk with a stop for lunch and the park) and since then my boobs have been little again and Merinda more unsatisified which makes me wonder if I have enough milk there to keep her happy much longer.

So - do you think the exercise has affected my supply or is it possible that I have as much milk there but just that Im not uncomfortable with it as hormones are settling down? Or....have the exercise and a growth spurt from Merinda combined to result in me feeling very empty until the boobs kick in to make more to keep up with her increased demand??? Does that make sense? Opinions appreciated ladies :)

I have was close to topping up with formula last night but didn't as she eventually went to sleep and stayed asleep but fed almost constantly from 10:30pm till 1:30am.....should have seen the size of my boobs after that effort lol...

Hope everyone is doing ok and sorry to hear about your Dad Jodie xxx

Hi bubsies - as far as happy hormones are concerned - if you still have them then don't worry about it! I didn't really have any down days when i had jess. Have you tried a sling for merinda - at least that would free up your arms. Jess didn't like having her arms wrapped so i just wrapped her with them outside. Maybe just a coincedence about the exercise and boob size changing or could be you might be a bit dehydrated - drink up lots of water. Your milk supply is probably fine - if its hot where you are then merinda might just be extra thirsty because of that and if you have aircon - that really dehydrates bub and you. Hope it sorts itself out for you.

eta - kathreen thats a good size bump you have already - not even half way yet. Glad things are going well.

Wow Kathreen, your pregnancy is going so so fast! For us maybe! Lol ;) Nice sized bump! Make sure you keep us updated with pics! Re: pre-school, I think pre-school anywhere is mostly play isn't it? Anyway, this one is a normal pre-school (not a care centre or playgroup) and they just have the three year olds come in for one day a week. I've heard that they even do a graduation ceremony when the kids leave (so maybe after their second year there), with hats and gowns and all. Lol.

Jodi - hope your Dad is feeling better too. Must be hard seeing him so sick. :( Oh I can understand you not wanting to move her out of daycare...daycare would be good though too, lots of social skills developing there.

Gina - I agree that it probably wasn't exercise making your boobs smaller, but the fact that you might have needed more water?? That used to happen to me too but it could also just have been that your boobs are just settling down too. I would up your water intake, make sure you're eating enough, get lots of rest, and see how you go. How long did you feed Hayden?

I need to clean my house but really really can't be bothered. I just want to sloth! Gabriel's in bed and Jasper's playing games on my iphone. Hmmm, maybe a coffee might perk me up ;)

xx

ETA Gina, if you haven't had any down days/moments then I'd be cheering! I can't remember back to how I was feeling but I think it's typically day 3 you're hit with some down hormones...you might have missed it! :)

Chenoa - I will send my girls to 4yo kinder- they have a kinder within the creche with a qual teacher but might opt for sessional classes depending on what I do with work.

Have read all of the thread but Terri so sorry you had a bad time - there are insensitive ppl around hope you get through it - we are here if you need to vent :bighug:
