It can take a day or so for a new site to appear in Google and other search engines.

Also you need to check the code of your main page (index.html presumably) and make sure you've put some keywords in the right field. e.g.

<HEAD>
  <TITLE>My Web Page</TITLE>
  <META NAME="Author" CONTENT="A Nonnymouse">
  <META NAME="Keywords" CONTENT="cats, kittens, catnip, fur">
  <META NAME="Description" CONTENT="Selling pedigreed furry kittens who love catnip">
</HEAD>

Google and other search engines look for these keywords, therefore a page will be indexed faster and appear higher on the Google search results.

It can take a little while. You do need to make sure that you have relevant content too. If you have a Flash site or lots of images then there's not much for Google to work with.

You can also manually list your site with some search engines, or pay someone to list it with all of them.

Hi

Well done :)

Listings are classified into 2 areas:

Natural/organic listings - these are listed immediately below the search term/query and happen naturally. The process is called SEO or search engine optimisation - you make your website search engine friendly. You can never guarantee #1 position but by modifying your website can get a higher listing.

Search engine marketing (SEM) - is where you pay to list your ads with web address in Google. The program is called Google adsense/adwords. There are many books available that can teach you how to do this or you can learn from Google itself. Look here - https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogi...-en_gb-ha-aw-bk

You can learn about the program and register here.

Basically you only pay each time a user clicks on your ad so it's very cost effective :)

All the best :)
