Jahbee, March 1, 2005 in 'Older' Mums and Mums-To-Be
I get to be first!!!
A quick check in from work, seems to be the only time I can get in lately.
Chrissy - Hope the baby shower goes well weell and you get lots of useful pressies..
JB - 15 wks it seemed to fly by...well for us anyway..lol I hope DD is ok now, they do tend to bounce back after these things. Hope your council meeting goes well and is not as bad as it seems.
Mergie - kids always one worry or another, hope it all sorts out soon.
Minni - There is a certain satisfaction when you can look around the house and everything is as it should be......it may not last long but at least it got there once! lol
Me - well I'm now at the same point as the miscarriage last month. So far so good. Have a BT tomorrow. Did another HPT (parnoid I know) this morning just to check hormones were still around, got a very dark BFP in fact darker than the control line after about 1 minute, so I'm hoping that is a good sign.
Couldn't get into the doctors this week, booked out again, but did get the doctor to write my up a BT request, and have an appointment for next Tuesday.
Guess I will know more after the BT. Fingers crossed.
Must go and do some work.
SLJ - Wonderful news, I have everything crossed for you. Next week can't come quick enough I bet!!
JB - Good luck with your appointment this week.
DS hasn't had anymore blood in his pooh to date, what a relief. I'm writing down every bowel movement and will take it with me to the appointment.
I've had cramping since Friday and am just waiting for the witch, she's due tmw but I've been to the loo 50 times already today (you know that feeling you get) I have sore boobs which tingle abit, I'm trying not to get too carried away as the cramps are pretty bad so don't want to get my hopes up. I keep thinking wouldn't it be ironic to fall pg naturally after 12 months of AC!!
I was impressed with the list JB. It gives me some time of hope knowing that when I first came on board none of us were PG and now there's only 2 maybe 3 of us to 'crack it'. Hopefully none of us will be TTC soon and we'll all be off in the 'due in' threads.
Take care all.
New member Snippa - I have a 20 month old (2nd IVF attempt) and am 8 weeks pregnant with #2 after 1 IVF. N/F Scan scheduled for 29/3. 40 years young!! Please include me on your list.
Hello to everyone

I just noticed that my EDD has not been
was 15th March but they changed it coz of the scan to
My news is that I am still getting over a really bad
flu and I
managed to fall down the stairs yesterday and twist my
strange directions. Was a shock...don't even know how
to do it...later that day I put a packet of frozen
peas on my feet
wrapped in a tea towel and of course the bag split -
everywhere LOL and hubby and I were picking up all the
Then I poured myself a tea and poured hot water over
one of my
feet. LOL. You gotta laugh. (that was after I screamed
Had a scan yesterday (all good) and midwife
Am feeling ok considering the amount of mucus and

Have got to start to pack my bag.......LOL.
Hope everyone is well and looking forward to meeting
I know we are looking forward to meeting our little
Light to all,
Please add me to the list. I have found this nice little niche for us older chicks.
I am 37, and trying TTC for the first time. Been trying since December 2004.
Mergie - Have my fingers, toes and everthing else crossed for you.
Gummy bear - only 4 weeks, wow, it must be getting exciting and scarey now....Best Wishes
Blue Mist - same for you only a couple of weeks, Best of luck.
Snippa and Laineyberlin - Welcome!
Got my BT results back today...well sort of....When I rang in for the results, I was told ' all the doctor has written is he wants you to come in for a non urgent follow up visit in the next couple of weeks' So I guess that is a good thing. Last time he actually said the levels were too low. I have an appointment Tuesday so I guess I'll find out more then.
Have a few continuing symptoms I guess you could call them. BB's are very tender some times worse than others, and have a queasy not really nausea feeling in the abdomen, more like tension, not sure how to describe it, sort of progresses to an indigestion type feeling. Not painful just uncomfortable, seems to hang around most of the day on and off, but settles a bit of an evening when I can get to relax.
Hi there, I didn't realize I was an 'oldie' til I saw this thread! LMAO!! I am 35 and will be having my 4th and last baby in November. Hoping it's a girl after 3 boys.
Hope to chat with some of you soon.

Ectopic Pregnancy 28/06/04 @ 9weeks
Welcome to all the newbies, looks like I may have some company after all!!
Well, Thursday came and went, no AF. Friday came and went, no AF. I had to tie myself to the couch last night so I wouldn't do a HPT (lol) This morning came and went, no AF. Just as I'm about to pee on the stick, in she flies!!!!!!! Christ, am I pi$$ed.
It's only spotting at the moment. My boobs are so sore and I have cramping. (what's new) Having a real crapper of an afternoon. Too many thoughts running through my head. I don't know how much more of this I can take.
Sorry for being such a downer everyone.
Need a couple of stiff drinks I think to unwind.
Take care all
me again, just checking if my sig appears. I just found out what I hadn't been doing in the past.

Mergie, I'm sorry. My heart goes out to you. As if its not bad enough she arrives but to tease you and get your hopes up and then come at a moment like that is just cruel. You're really having a crap time at the moment with your son sick and all. I so hope things improve for you soon, you deserve a break.
I'm going to leave it for another day to update about my scan yesterday, doensn't seem right to do so now. I have been quite sick this week with a cold that moved into bronchitis so struggled thru work but not on here much, straight to bed when i got home.
Hi to the newbies, will update your details in the next few days.
Gerogiegirl I would consider you a youngie.
hi ladies. I've just found this thread. Have been looking at EB for some time and seen the older mums but not really checked in. So hi to everyone.
Hope you don't mind me popping in and out like this. I mostly hang out in the AC March 2WWers, but do feel old enough to be mother to some of them! Actually I met a few girls from that thread on Sat and we figured out that one of them was in the same school year that I taught! Made me feel ancient.
Update from me is that I'm doing my first IVF/ICSI cycle and now have ovaries 8 times their normal size! :gasp: Looks like this Friday will be egg and sperm collection and then we see how it goes. It's getting very exciting, but I feel like a pin cushion from all the injections and blood tests and I feel so bloated and uncomfortable. My next ultrasound is tomorrow morning.
Thanks for having this thread, good luck to you all.

Hello, just back from a holiday and we survived the flight from the Netherlands and people on the flight congratulated her on her behaviour. Had first OB visit today, pregnancy seems to be OK and Blood Pressure seems to be under control. I am on ALDOMET..
Sounds like the snow and ice was a great change from the heat you all endured over here. Snow in the Hague at this time of year was wonderful and DD really enjoyed it.. Though it is nice to be home..

Hey there - it's meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I'm so sorry I've been MIA but I'm back at work and I'm going to do my best to get more active back here - I've just managed to get up-to-date with the due in Nov 04 group thingy.........
Well - what news for you all.....
Gabby is now nearly 4 1/2 months old and today she weighed in at 6.97kg - not bad for a little monstarrrrr who has reflux!!
I'm working Tues/Wed/Thurs and here is a typical day....
6.30am rise, see Gabby give her reflux medicine get ready for work
7.45am at work
9am - express for the bubba
1pm - express for the bubba
4pm - head for home
4.30pm - medicine for Gabby
5pm - bath/feed off boob!
6pm - 9pm - play with Gabs, prepare dinner, go for a walk of she's grizzly - though she now seems to have a cat nap from about 7pm to 8pm.
9pm feed off boob and to bed
depending on her......
betw 1am-2am - feed
and then we start again..................
She's been swimming and is just a little mermaid - under the water and bath time now is just splash time!
DK'H - well - still one day at a time - but Gabby is now my focus so I don't bother much with him!
Gabby is being Christened on Sunday and my mum made her a beatuiful gown - traditional - and then "we" are hosting lunch back at home for 40 people - go figure that with the DK'H's guest list - don't get me started there!
Work has been flat out - we did the Danish Royal Visit yesterday at Observatory Hill, now I'm working on some concerts in Rushcutters Bay and the City's Garden Comp.
Also - there is netball - u/14 rep side this year but I have an assistant coach so that helps - particularly if Gabby is not interested in going to training!
She has been to lots of events! She has discovered her feet and can roll onto her side and belly and move around a little more. No sign of teeth, but she gets frustrated if she can't move much!
Had a cardio check last week and I'm all ok. Um what else...... I still have her on the boob and intend to do so till at least 6 months. I have lost all my weight - I was back to "normal" 10 weeks after delivery. I'm now a little less, due to work and still b'feeding but it's ok!
I'm very blessed to have her around and just cherish each moment with her - more so if the DK'H wants to go out, get drunk and sleep the whole next day - no matter how tired I am - it's still time for "the chicks" which we love.
She loves going around in her "baby bjorn" I hardly use the stoller myself as I like to have her close to me. She loves our walks and loves the huge fig trees in the park near us. I took her into town the other day and she couldn't stop looking up at the buildings and the malls with high ceilings! Its just a beautiful feeling.
So now looking at the time - I've gotta fly and express in one of the meeting rooms here!!!
Love to you all,
big huge hugs and I promise to get on line more often!

Chrissy - If you're anything like me, working will make the time go quicker, being at home just makes it seem even longer!
Georgiegirl - Welcome. I too am 35, but this will be our first, well fingers crossed it will continue this time.
Mergie - bummer with AF. hugs
JB - Hope you're feeling better soon.
Kim - Welcome.
Rain - Best of luck with the stimming, fingers crossed for you.
Cathy - Welcome back, glad the hols went well, now you just have to get back to routine!
Mazeee - Hello again, it was good to hear you and Gabby are doing so well.
Gummybear - 24 days.....the waiting would be driving me nuts.
Well I've been to the doctors, my Hcg levels from last Wednesday were 3000,(much better than the 20 last time round) had another BT today so hoping that one shows an increase.
Have the paperwork for an u/s next weeks, still have to make the appointment, to rule out an ectopic or molar pregnancy which may still be causing a problem after the suspected miscarriage last time. If not too soon will also help with dates. The Dr. is unsure of the dates, so I guess we'll find out.
I've been feeling very seedy lately, m/s is definitely a misnomer....evening sickness would be more accurate. Although I have never felt so sick as I did yesterday morning. I got up and jumped in the shower, by the time I had finished my shower I was so sick, couldn't stand up...had to keep sitting down, but came good after I had some breakfast. So decided in a change of routine this morning, had breakfast first, then the shower, worked much better. Still I guess while I'm feeling sick things are progressing so that must be good.
Stay Strong! Think Positive!

Good morning ladies. Sorry to be absent for a little while but I was with you all in spirit.
Snippa, Iaineyberlin and georgiagirl Welcome to our neck of the woods. You'll love it in here. The ladies are a source of strength and inspiration.
Susan Your beta levels are sounding promising and of course the presence of the mis-named morning sickness is always a good sign as well. I'm so pleased that things are motoring along for you at the moment.
Gummybear Not long for you to go now. Bet you're feeling excited.
Bluemist Ow! You're not having a good time of it are you? Forgive me for laughing at the spilt peas episode though. Thanks for the giggle. Not long for you now either. Take care and rest up.
Chrissy I think working up to as close to your due date is a good idea. With my first baby I had to leave on maternity leave by 36 weeks and then I was two weeks overdue and it was the pits having all that time to waste - and it was soooo hot! I would much rather have been at work in the aircon.
With my last one I worked up to my due date and then went a week over. So one week at home resting was great. Everything seems to be ticking away nicely for you. Take care.
Mergie Oh mate! You must be feeling so p*ssed at the moment. I'm crossing my fingers that it is only spotting and it's implantation spotting. Please let us know how you're doing.
And I hope those stiff drinks helped!
JB You didn't share your scan results with us and I've been waiting to hear what you saw etc. I hear you on 'there's no room left'! But it's amazing just how far our tummies can stretch. Take care and keep your feet up.
Rain Wow! That sounds fantastic about your ovaries being so large. I really hope this works for you after the failed reversal.
Cathy Welcome back home. Sounds like you had a great holiday. How's the heat for you now that you're home?
Mazeee My goodness woman - you're a supermum! Back to your pre-preg size and all!!
Thanks for popping in and filling us in on what's happening in your life. I certainly hope that the Christening goes off without a hitch and is a day to remember for all the right reasons.
Well I've been quiet because last week was the pits. I realised last week that I should be around 36 weeks and I'm getting close to my 'due date' 13 April. Then as if I wasn't feeling bad enough some of my 'friends' decided to pull me into a feud that has been going on amongst them for way too long. The funny thing was that I wasn't angry - just really disappointed that these mature women are acting like high school kids in the playground. And I told them that too! They've pretty much been quiet around me since then.
Life is ticking along. I just want to get past April 13 and then I just have to get past August 5.
On the upside - I've lost 1.2kg!
So have a good one everyone and take care of yourselves.
Thanks for the welcome back
Next couple of weeks are going to be stressful time. We have booked in for a CVS next week and the results of our trip to the Netherlands will be known. We had a court case to attend to,regardless we will manage.
SLJ - Morning Sickness is a silly name, the heat in Sydney is not too bad but it seems stuffy at night which is making it hard to sleep. When I wake at 3am with "ms" it is difficult to sleep. I hope I get over this soon. Yes the routine is hard to get back into.
LJV - My husbands Vasectomy reversal also failed and we found out 12 months later (when I was 41 I think) and he bravely went through it again (very expensive as he was Dutch and we had different tax considerations) But 6 months later I fell pregnant, obviously it still works because now at 44 I have fallen pregnant for the 3rd time (one MC). We are very lucky, though the ms is making me think twice.
Lazy sick day today. DD had a lovely day taking clothes off and dressing herself again (all upside down and inside out) When I worked it didn't seem as bad..
Thanks for the warm welcome and well-wishing. Well things are moving ahead for me...I'm having my egg pickup tomorrow morning and DH is having surgical sperm collection, so by Saturday we should get a call from the scientists and find out if we have any embryos fertilising! It's scarey and exciting all at once.
Cathy...That's great that the 2nd reversal worked for you! We were told by the microsugeon not to bother because DH's vasectomy was done by a butcher and left very little room for things to be reconnected. The chances of a 2nd op working are unfortunately nil. So poor DH has to put his goolies on the table for a local and a biopsy tomorrow. I'll be blissfully under a general thank heavens!
Me: 42 DH: 50
ICSI #1 EPU + SSC 11/3
Quick drop in today, m/s got the better of me today so finished up coming home at lunchtime.
Second lot of blood tests came back, no numbers again but dr said they had 'risen satisfactorily' So i guess that is good. Have u/s booked for Tuesday, hopefully after that I will be able to relax a bit more.
m/s has been driving me nuts, no vomiting just enough to make you feel sick, sometimes improves after eating but my appetite is pretty much no existant, all I can stomach is salad and salad sandwiches..which I guess is good...could have been something bad..lol
m/s isn't too bad first thing in the morning, If I get breakfast early, but gets progressively worse as the day wears on....couch looks real good when I finally get home from work. Have had to tell people at work that I've picked up a 'stomach bug'at the moment...that seems to be keeping them happy for the time being.
JB - How did the scan go?
Minni - It is very frustrating when people can't see how they are acting, and how it affects others, but guess there's not much you can do other than let them know. Good luck
Cathy - I'm very glad the weather is pleasant at the moment, don't think I could handle feeling like this and heat as well.
Edit: forgot to tick the signature box again....

Rain, i want to wish you good luck for your 1st (and hopefully last) egg pick up tomorrow. I always like being put to sleep, that last lah lah lah feeling...
Cathy, good luck for the CVS next week.
SLJ, blah to the morning sickness. I took 5 weeks LSL off work as the dry retching in the toilets at work and tiredness was getting too much. The ms finally stopped a week ago, yeh, yeh!!! (mind you if i do things in a hurry in the morning i still start dry retching).
Gummybear, not long to go!
Minni, well done on the weight loss. Sorry to hear you are feeling a bit down, due date anniversary's are really hard things to get by.
Welcome Kim. I need to update the rollcall but I'm at work now sneaking in a post so no time.
I'm 16.3 weeks and really just starting feeling better in the last week or so. Went for a scan a week ago and it was awesome. I was sick coughing and stuff and it was funny to see the baby's arms go up waving about as if to say ah ah ah cut it out! I was lucky enough that the director came in to check and do some more scanning as the stonographer had not done many tummy scans (thats fine though as she was my favourite IVF Nurse). He was pointing out other soft markers to her for downs syndrome, things like the gap between the big and next toe is wider, the distance between the left and right side of the brain wider, the bridge of the nose flat, quite amazing they could pick up all these things in a scan, anyway all mine was fine, so i am at peace with my decision not to have amnio. Didn't find out the sex. Next scan only 4 weeks away
That's about all. Have a good w/e especially fellow Melbournians with a public holiday on monday!
Forgot where I left off last time with the spotting, sorry if I left you all in limbo. Didn't take long for the spotting to develop into AF though.
I can't explain the sore boobs though, they were even when I was showering which they aren't normally, I'm wondering if I was pg for a brief moment, who knows.
I'm DS's official pooh monitor at the moment!! I'm keeping a record for my specialist's appointment on the 1st.
Millions of thoughts run through my head each day, do I go back to MIVF, do I try another IUI, do I try IVF, do I just forget about the whole thing and just plod along hoping each month praying I fall pg? It's doing my head in really. We are designing our new home and hope to decide on a builder in the next month or so, you would think this would keep me occupied but I don't think an hour passes when I'm not preoccupied with TTC.
I read an article in the Sunday paper about TTC. The MC rate for a 42yo is 50%, and the chance of falling pg are less than 10%, not great odds are they?
To top this all off my estranged niece had a daughter just before Christmas, she's only 18. She visited on the weekend and my heart was breaking, I had a little nurse and it was wonderful, I just hope everything works out for them all, the Father seems OK but they are just so young. I also found out yesterday my estranged nephew became a father too, he's nearly 21. My brother is a Grandfather of 2 at the ripe old age of 43 and here I am trying for a 2nd child at 42, it seems strange when you say it like that.
We're going to Apollo Bay for the long weekend tomorrow, I'm looking forward to it as DH has been so busy at work and really needs a break. We celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary yesterday, I had one too many wines last night and was rather seedy today at work.
A big HI to everyone, no personals sorry, gotta put some tea on. A couple of quickies though...It's great to hear from Mazee, wow time certainly flies and JB I'm thrilled about your scan, it must be a weight off your shoulers now.
Must choof, have a great weekend everyone.
