Wyatt, Isaac or Knox - a boy name to go with sib Emmett.

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

So I am due in 2-3 weeks and we have still not settled on a boy name for our team green baby.

We have Sierra picked for a girl, but my gut tells me this is a boy.

We have an Emmett Stephen.

We loved Knox Alexander for a long time, but we have gone off it recently.

In the hunt for a new name we have both agreed we like both Isaac and Wyatt.

I'm a teacher and have not taught a Knox or Wyatt, nor do I know any.

On the other hand Isaac is quite common.

My concern is whether Wyatt is too similar to Emmett with the tt sound + syllables.

I feel that Isaac and Emmett flow well together.

And then there are middle names.

Happy with Alexander for Wyatt and Knox, but we know someone whose surname is Alexander and they have an Isaac (not close at all, but don't want that).

I like Austin or Archer - husband is pickier.

Any help or advice welcomed. Feel free to suggest more name (although I feel we have gone through literal 1000s).

Thanks.

I think Wyatt and Emmett match better thematically, but possibly too much so in that it is almost cutesy how much they match.  Together they make you picture a couple of cowboys heading to the OK Corral for a shootout.   I also think they sound too similar with the matching endings.

I think Emmet and Isaac sound lovely together.  They don’t fit the same ‘theme’ (but I don’t see the point of naming siblings as if they were a box set anyway), but they roll off the tongue together in a way that is very phonetically pleasing!

Isaac is my favourite by far. It is more common, but not ridiculously so. Wyatt is not my style, but I think it’s also quite nice. Not a fan of Knox.

Prancer is coming

I like Wyatt or Knox.  Plenty of people’s kids have the same ending sound - look how many girls names end in an ‘ee’  sound.

If Knox isn’t doing it for you anymore, have you thought of Nixon?  Sort of similar sounding names.

Wyatt and Emmett are too matchy. Knox is ok. Isaac goes well. I like Archer too.

Isaac Alexander flows beautifully! If we ever have another boy, both names are on our list!

Isaac by a county mile. Wyatt would be a very very distant second and I really dislike Wyatt. Isaac Alexander is lovely.

Wyatt and Emmett is too rhymey.

I know a little Knox. I don't mind the name but don't love it.

Isaac and Emmett sound lovely together.

I really dislike Knox, I can't stand the sound of it. It's also getting quite popular right now in the under 5s, so I wouldn't pick that because it is lesson common than Isaac. I actually don't know any little Isaacs.

Isaac is lovely and timeless without being ridiculously over used.

Thanks everyone!

We have settled on Isaac - and both think it is a strong, not overly common boy's name. We like the nickname options of Ike, Iz/Izzy and Zac also.

Middle names are still proving harder than we thought (and we really want one - well I do haha).

We are thinking Isaac Archer. Although I would love something a little more left of field either place or nature inspired (not sure I'll get that past hubby) like Aspen or Austin.

Any more suggestions appreciated :)
