What do your 7-8 yo boys enjoy doing?

DS will be 7 in a few months and we need to update his toys etc. He’s got puzzles, games, cars etc from when he was about 3-4 that he no longer plays with. He absolutely loves his Lego, but it’s the only thing inside that he really has to play with.

Other than that, he loves to read, jump on the trampoline, play handball, talk about minecraft lol.

What are some things we could get for the playroom that your 7-8 year olds enjoy? I’m thinking just 2-3 things?

Thanks!

Hot Wheels track systems. There's Super Mario themed ones just released which DS saw in the store the other day and his eyes lit up.

Checkers has been a big hit with DS 7yrs. Next will be chess. Rubix cube, shooting hoops outside.  He outgrew cars ages ago.

Agree with Beyblades and Hot Wheels.

Think fun games that he could do by himself. We are looking at the circuit maze or rush hour for DS8s birthday.

Does he like Pokémon? Cards and albums are good at that age.

Bakugan

Dare I say more lego or other building toys

Technics Lego parts? My boy would love Lego gears etc to make his Lego move in different ways. He loves looking things up on YouTube (especially trucks, garbage trucks, diggers, fork lifts and other vehicles with moving parts) and trying to come up with designs that move or lift or whatever.

My seven year old loves his clip circuit (Heebie Jeebie's brand) .   It's a mini electronics kit which snaps together and you can make different sounds (e. g.  Burglar alarm).  Parental involvement isn't really required and it just runs off a couple of AA batteries.

Oh some awesome ideas, thank you!!!

I can’t believe I didn’t think of technic - he would love that. Some circuits too would be great.

He’s getting a basketball hoop attachment for the trampoline for his bday so hoping he loves that. And he does love making bits and pieces for craft, I’ll look into those too
