Port Lincoln...

Recommended Posts

sunshine_days

Looking to coming to South Australia over summer.. and was thinking Port Lincoln, coming from melbourne.. and staying for 2 weeks... So tell me whats Port Lincoln like? What are the beaches like to swim at? Or best places to swim.. places to see.. we like hiking and being outdoors.

We love South Australia and have been to Victor Harbour a few times, and Kangaroo Island... Would love to do the Flinders Ranges a but a lil hot at that time of year...

And would prefer the coast...

Or where are some other amazing places in South Australia to see.

Port Lincoln is great but we prefer Coffin Bay which is about 20 minutes further on. There are lots of different types of beaches in the area, some are quite calm & sheltered, others are surf type beaches. A lot of the nice beaches are part of national parks and would only be accessible by 4WD. Fishing is great in that area if you like to do that. It really is a beautiful part of the world.

The bottom of Eyre Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places in Australia. Coffin Bay is gorgeous.

Hi Sunshine_Days

Yes Port Lincoln is fantastic and as one of the PP mentioned, so is Coffin Bay.  Are you camping or staying in a house?  Highly recommend heading into both Port Lincoln National Park (especially Memory Cove) and Coffin Bay National Park (would need a 4WD to get to the good bits). Fishery Beach south of Port Lincoln is lovely for a swim, fish of the Ledge at Coffin Bay, oysters at Coffin Bay, also fishing off the main wharf at Port Lincoln. Whalers way for good scenery.

This website is good https://visitportlincoln.net.au/

National parks websites https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/find-a-park/Browse_by_region/Eyre_Peninsula/coffin-bay-national-park  and https://www.parks.sa.gov.au/find-a-park/Browse_by_region/Eyre_Peninsula/lincoln-national-park

Good food too - Del Giorno great cafe and uses local produce, Line and Label - expensive but yum.

Happy to answer any more questions.

Cheers

Dahlia
