Kidneys - rapid decline in eGFR

Recommended Posts

~Bob~

I’ll say upfront, we are getting medical treatment and advice for this. I’m asking for information in the meantime (appointment is for Wednesday)

A family member had keyhole surgery on 11 December. She has never had kidney issues in her life. On hospital discharge, her eGFR was 73. She was back at the dr because she is feeling terrible, and a blood test showed an eGFR of 21. A fall of 52 in one month.

It’s a massive decline and obviously something that needs urgent attention. Has anyone had similar experience that you can share. Did they find a solution and recover quickly?

(Please don’t quote, I might delete this)

Gosh that is rapid! I wonder if they nicked something during the keyhole surgery. I hope they're seeing a nephrologist? Not sure where you're located but if you'd like the name of a great one in Sydney (Mater hospital), don't hesitate to PM me.

Yes, she is. At norwest, I think. Thanks anyway for the recommendation.

The CT scan seemed to indicate that everything looked great?!? The x-ray was fine too. The only think that is off is the blood test, and of course the patient’s health.
