Hi All

Gabbitz - such a relief for no GD especially with everything else happening! I take my hat off to you. Hope infusion went well and helps and you’re DS is on mend.

Wonderstruck - those numbers look so promising.

MissHLH - hopefully you’ve got the results now and they’re all good.

I had a scan on Saturday and found out we’re having twins!! So excited and scared lol. I’m still feeling super anxious about miscarrying as this is the time I miscarried last time (though I didn’t know until almost 11 weeks). I have another scan Monday morning but the wait is agonizing. I’m 8 weeks today. Only reason for scan as I’m classed as high risk due to age, twins and high risk labors so I am opting to go private and the obstetrician wants to scan at their facility. I’ve been feeling less sick these last few days which is why I’m so anxious about it, I feel like I need to be really sick so I know I’m still carrying. Crazy line of thought, I know.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

OWLS - oh wow twins! Congratulations- I hope everything goes well for you. I’m glad you get to have another scan on Monday. Hopefully that helps put your mind at rest.

Wonderstruck- those numbers sound great. I hope you’re coping with the wait until your scan.

Miss HLH, I hope your GD test was all good. If it’s negative, I wonder if you’ll have to do it again or not.

AFM, my infusion went well. Supposedly it can take a week or two for the iron to be absorbed properly by the body, so I don’t really feel any different.

We’re all sick - again. I think this is cold #6 since Jan. my doc sent me for corona virus testing to rule it out. As long as I’m clear from that, he’s sending me to another specialist to see if we can work out what’s going on. I really don’t want to get to a point of having bub, but then being quarantined so I don’t infect him/her. He’s also hoping that the iron Infusion will help give me the reserves to fight it off. Sigh - I’m over being sick.

Owls - congratulations!!! My OB scans at every visit - it's more a quick check on bub than anything diagnostic. I'm sure your body is adjusting and all is well.

Gabbitz- seems there are a few things going around other than Covid-19. DD had a cold and similar is making the rounds of this house.

I'm ok. A bit tired and just plodding along. Scan about a week away and hoping I'll relax then. Keep checking for bleeding as it happened at late 6 weeks, 9 weeks and 11 weeks so a little anxious but otherwise ok.

OWLS - congratulations!! I'm sure it's a little daunting, but so, so exciting too. It's not crazy to worry about feeling better being a bad sign (or maybe it's just not uncommon). I felt not too bad Christmas Day, a little better Boxing Day, and then didn't feel sick for the next two days. I barely moved I was so scared something was wrong!

Gabbitiz - it takes a couple of weeks to make new red blood cells, that's why it takes a while to notice a difference. So hopefully you'll start feeling the effects soonish. I can't beleive you're unwell again. That's so unfortunate. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Wonderstruck - hope things are super boring until your scan.

I don't have GD (I will have to do the test again though), but an anaemic - so also have to have an infusion. Scan next week, so hopefully that shows no other bad reason for me being a giant. Doctor thinks maybe extra fluid, which can be for no reason, or can be a sign something is wrong. Just more waiting...

Yay no corona virus! We didn’t think it was, but it’s nice officially having it ruled out. I was under the impression that the tests were also meant to test for other stuff too, but haven’t heard if there is anything else that the tests told them.

My doc was going to see if he can get me in to see an infectious disease specialist through the hospital we’re going to be going through. We’re kind of getting to the point where we need answers to ensure I’m as healthy as I can be before bub’s arrive. I’m now 29 weeks, my first was born at 32weeks, so I’m not sure we’re going to fit the appointment in in time!

They’ve got me on a pregnancy safe antibiotic. I’m not sure if it’s helping or if it’s just wishful thinking!

Miss HLH. Glad to hear you don’t have GD. One relief at least. Hope they can sort it out or at least rule out the nasties to put your mind at rest. Shame they’re making you do it a second time though later.

That's great news Gabbitiz. I guess seeing another specialist is a little annoying, but worth it in the end. Infectious disease specialists are the cleanest people you will ever meet! Pregnancy is a bit immunosuppressive, and I think once you get one thing you are more disposed to the next.

But hopefully Baby Gabbitiz knows to stay put for the next 10 weeks or so!

Sigh. No useful answers at the moment. We found out the supposedly I have RSV. A virus that is extremely common in kids and generally not even tested for. Likely that’s the most recent bug we’ve been fighting off. Nothing else came up, so they don’t know if the antibiotics had killed off something previously, and now we’re just fighting off the most recent bug or what. Anyway, at least RSV supposedly doesn’t cross the placenta and as long as oxygen and temperature stay good, there’s no issues for bub! At least that was good news.

Also had whooping cough vaccine yesterday. Feeling ok thankfully except for a sore arm from the injection!

My work just announced everyone who can should work from home. So I now have ‘company’ as my whole team is now working from home. It is good though as all of a sudden, IT rolled out some changes to reduce the slowness factor of some things when working externally. Things we’ve complained about for ages as the company had limited WFH arrangements previously.

How’s everyone else going?

Good to hear you've got an answer as to what's going on. Shame you've been unwell though.

I'm ok. Was in the city for a cram professional development day I need for my practicing certificate. Got that done.

Have a bit of MS now but nothing like I had with my daughter. Managing it with elevit MS tablets which take the edge off.

I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow. First scan on Saturday and a bit anxious about that. Will relax a little more then. Then will see my OB on Wednesday.

How is everyone else.

Gabbitiz - good to have an answer, probably run down making you more susceptible...

Wonderstruck - hopefully the MS is making you feel a bit better even as it makes you sick! I hope that your scan tomorrow goes well.

I went for my iron infusion today, but the doctor couldn't get a vein, so have to go back in a week and try again. I'm so tired and get so breathless that walking to work is an effort, so I really wanted it done. Can't be helped I guess.

I'm getting bigger - I'd estimate my fundal height puts me about 8 weeks ahead now, so I'm stressed that something is wrong. I know most of the time it's just extra fluid, with no reason, but I can't help worrying just a little. My scan is next Tuesday. But don't know when I'll get to see my doctor as she went overseas and is back today the clinic thinks, so she'll then be in isolation. So that sucks too.

I hope all goes well with the scan Miss HLH.

I had my 7 week scan today at 7+1

Bub was measuring on track give or take a day and HB of 136 bpm.

Waiting to hear back from FS as my right ovary is huge from the IVF cycle. First OB appointment will be next Thursday.

Hi Wonderstruck - that's so great that baby was in the right place doing the right thing.

Hope you hear back from the FS today or very soon, and hope you're not too uncomfortable with that ovary.

The nurse said the report says all was normal and nothing to worry about. I'll ask for a copy for my OB and will see what he thinks when I see him next week.

Wonderstruck glad to hear bub’s scan went well. I hope the ovary doesn’t become a problem at all. Maybe once you’re off all meds it will settle. I know the drugs do horrible things for my body and I couldn’t wait to be off them!

MissHLH - frustrating to hear about your doc. It makes everything that much more stressful. I hope that the scan next week will be reassuring.

I’m 30 weeks tomorrow, so back to see my doc on Monday.

Just got a letter from my hospital saying that they’ve scheduled my preadmission interview over the phone 7/4. My concern with that - that’s 32w+2 days. Considering DS was born at 32 weeks, there’s a possibility that will be too late! Gotta call the hospital on Monday and see if I can get it sorted earlier. I tried to do it when I went in for my infusion the other day, but couldn’t find the right department to talk to.

Wonderstruck - I hope your OB appointment goes well this week.

Gabbitiz - I hope that you got the pre-admission stuff sorted, even if it's just one thing crossed off the to-do list.

My scan today went really well - no reason found for me being a giant, just the way I'm carrying I suppose. Baby isn't big, and there isn't excess fluid. Really a relief. All parts that are meant to be there are, so I'm going to try and stop stressing (at least for a little while) and just enjoy things. The flutters have turned into more definite little bumps which is so much fun. I know later on people report that they can hurt, and even get bruised, but right now I can't imagine getting tired of the feeling.

How's everyone else going?

Hi Miss HLH, so glad to hear your scan went well and everything is normal for bub’s size. Just wondering if you’re still on any of your ivf meds? I always found I was ridiculously bloated when on the drugs. Last pregnancy and this one, once my body finally settled down after I was off them I wasn’t bloated any more. It usually took me a good 2 months after my last doses to finally settle. That was probably why I ‘lost’ weight over Christmas. I am usually on high doses of everything, including Prednisone, so end up with a lot of retained fluid. Anyway, just a thought.

Isn’t it awesome feeling bub moving! I love feeling that, knowing that bub is letting me know ‘I’m awake mummy’!

AFM

Haven’t sorted out preadmission yet. They basically told me that if I come early, they’ll deal with it at the time. Hmmm not really all that reassuring, but I think the hospital is just struggling because of all the covid-19 stuff.

My OB was happy with bub’s growth- supposedly measuring 2 weeks ahead, so hopefully that then means bub is also stronger at birth too!

I get to stop the aspirin at week 32 and progesterone at week 34 (I’m 30 weeks now) so getting to the end now. Just hoping bub continues doing well and hanging out for a few more weeks yet.

We see the OB and cardiologist during week 32, so that will help my nerves (if bub’s still holding on at that point). I’m kind of getting to the point where I might just think about getting a bag packed just to be on the safe side.

Glad to hear things going well all around at the moment.

I'm 7 weeks 6 days. Saw my OB today and bub looked to be fine for the dates.

I'll have an early morphology scan at 13 weeks rather than an NT scan as we did PGD. Otherwise no appointment till then which makes me anxious but otherwise all looks good.

Gabbitiz - I'm really hoping where you get to that stage where you are telling your baby "right, you've been here long enough - you're leaving tomorrow!". I know it's not very likely, but I really hope you get to that stage.

If you rock up and need to be admitted, then they cope. But so much of that stuff is done online, I don't know why they can't send you a pre-admission link. Just so it's off your to-do list.

Wonderstruck - I'm so glad everything is looking good. Hopefully the next 5 weeks go past really quickly.

I'm not on any more IVF meds (as much as I was looking forward to stopping them, it was really stressful to stop them!). And I've lost some weight since being pregnant (I'd guess I might be back to my IVF weight around now). It's not so much my size as my fundal height which is so off. I've decided that my uterus has gone up, and not out too much, and that's why it's high. I still have hip bones and a waist, so that's my theory. I do feel all bruised on the inside though - every time I knock my belly it hurts heaps - I'm guessing it's because it's all stretched to the limit?

I think I remember that feeling. MrsHLH. I always measured ahead and I'm petite so I think you're on the money with feeling overstretched.

Hi all

Sounds like all is going well with everyone, which is so good to hear!! So glad you’re hanging in there atm Gabbitz.

I’m 10 weeks tomorrow and have another scan and appointment on Tuesday just to make sure all ok I think, as the OB rang yesterday to schedule in a full scan before my appointment which make me nervous. They text me my last results and I’m not sure how to read but one twin had a CRL measurement of 19.6mm and then next to it a % of 65% the other 16.7 with % of 14%. Just because of the % difference I was a little nervous although no clue what it means.

I also had a MMC at this time last time, so think they’re being thorough. Only 2 more weeks of IVF drugs for me, not sure I’m more excited to stop estrogen patch (which I react badly to), progesterone pessaries or the injections lol wish it was all just like the estrogen tablets lol

Hope everyone is going ok with Coronavirus isolations?

Owls- I wonder if it's a percentile. I also imagine it is normal for twins to be a little smaller and vary in size. I'm sure you'll get an answer soon.

I'm ok OWLS....been working from home. Only outings are medical appointments, taking DD to childcare and shops if necessary. I'm otherwise working from home which suits as I feel a bit ordinary with nausea and tiredness.

Trying not to worry about no monitoring between now and 13 weeks. OB didn't seem worried but I always find it hard. I guess if I get really worried I can pop in and see him but I am trying to avoid going out.

We've announced to immediate family. My MIL has told a few people which I prefer she didn't but she doesn't get it as she never had to deal with IVF etc.

I can't wait till our 13 week scan so I can tell DD!

Hey OWLS, I think Wonderstruck is right. I think those were percentiles. I checked some of my scan reports and they did similar things - a value then a percent. They also had a very simple bar chart showing above or below the 50th mark (in case you are better with visual than #’s I guess!)

However, i’ve Also read that CRL is really awkward as it depends on how curled up bub is, as to how accurate the6 can get the measurements. I’d expect there would always be a difference between twins, but because it’s still pretty early I’d think they’d be most happy with two strong heartbeats.

Hopefully it’s not actually any issue. Good luck fr the full scan on Tuesday. Hope it sets your mind at ease (and exciting to get to see them too!)

Wonderstruck hope your time goes quick til your next scan too! Is there any difference between an NT and morphology scan? I actually thought the NT scan was just one part of a scan anyway- something about measuring the distance at the back of the neck between 12 - 14 weeks has been shown to detect issues for a couple of chromosomal things. Just curious if they’ll do anything different anyway??

Getting bored at home now, I’m glad work were fine with me working from home (not that they would have had a choice now in hindsight!) but a little stir crazy.

Just getting to the uncomfortable stage, no position is comfortable long term, so I end up moving from couch, to dining table to office chair throughout my work day to try to get comfy. But at least it’s easier to do that at home!

Hope everyone is coping with what’s going on at the moment.

It's a similar scan I think. I just don't need the bloods and I suppose we don't need to worry about doing the neck measurement.

I'm not sure how much longer I'll be here ladies. Had a fair bit of bleeding tonight so went to ED.

ED did bloods but the BHCG hadn't come back yet so they sent me home with a referral to the early pregnancy clinic for a scan. I'm so upset they couldn't scan me tonight as I'm going to struggle to sleep and be miserable. And to top it off, our car battery died so we are waiting outside the hospital for the NRMA...what a crap day.

Apparently all is well. A tiny extramembranous haemorrhage was found on my scan but not near bub and bub measured right on 8w4d and HB of 161.

I might schedule an extra OB appointment at 11 weeks or so for reassurance.

Wonderstruck- what a relief.

I had similar in my first pregnancy and it’s a horrible feeling. Have they given you anything to help with the bleeding or bed rest or anything?
