Navigating Child Care Subsidy

Well done Coffee Guy, sounds like you've found a good solution that is local and fits within your budget.

I personally think it's really important that Coffee Guy feel comfortable enough to keep posting here. He is trying his best under difficult circumstances.

So far he has had limited contact with his child. I imagine raising a child has been a bit of a theoretical construct and probably will remain so up until he has his child stay with him on a regular basis.

He also strikes me a being a practical sort of person concerned with day to day logistics. There's lots of ways to parent and show concern for a child and I think Coffee Guy should be given the opportunity to parent his child as he sees fit. We only see one particular side of him on this forum, after all.

Absolutely - most claims with Centrelink apply from the application date. Some claims can take ages, too, so don't assume you'll have the benefit quickly.

Ok I'll apply as soon as he is in my care.

I'll be ok waiting for Centrelink's processing and back pay which is a benefit of being diligent with saving money. If a vehicle is stolen, buy a new one in cash immediately. That's the security that I enjoy.

The logistics of organising kids is really hard compared to theory. I literally lose hours a day because tasks take longer than planned.

It takes some getting used to, my oldest is 9yo and I'm still learning.

It sounds like you are on the right track
