Help please! Chicken pox vaccine whilst pregnant

Recommended Posts

ohhhhello

Hi ladies ,looking for some help please. I received the chicken pox vaccine a few weeks back in preparation for trying for baby 2. I'm aware that you cent get pregnant for 4 weeks after getting the vaccine, but stupid me had a night of unprotected fun with my husband. I'm now 1 week before my period and nauseaus as hell.

I'm feeling like an absolute goose and im absolutely petrified that I'm pregnant and I've put the baby at risk. And thinking about all the possibilities.

Does anybody know what the risk is, how rare, and is there a way to test for any harm to fetus?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn’t worry about it at all OP. The risk is theoretical and there has not been any evidence to show any adverse events for babies following maternal vaccination during pregnancy.

See this link:

“ The chickenpox vaccine is not recommended for pregnant women as a matter of caution. However, studies have not shown any link between the weakened virus in the vaccine and any specific problems in babies born to women who received a chickenpox vaccine while they were pregnant”

And this link has more information about the studies used to demonstrate this, linked from the first one I posted, if you are interested in further detail.
