Accommodation in Brisbane

Recommended Posts

OceanTwentyFour

Hello

I’ve just bought tickets for the JoJo Siwa concert in Brisbane in January. We are in Perth so treating my daughter to a mother/daughter mini break.

Could anyone recommend decent accommodation and also fun things for us to do while we are there?

My daughter is 8 and she would like to go to SeaWorld as well. Is it easily accessible from Brisbane?

Thanks

Where is the concert?

I always reccommend staying at south Bank. If not the oaks festival towers are a good size and central location.

You can do sea world from Brisbane in a very long day. You'll need a car though.

We stayed in the CBD at the Mantra over new year, 2 bed apartment

Next time the southbank area though

We went to Seaworld from the CBD but we only walked around and Dh and DS just went on the roller coaster, so we went to Ripely's believe it or not at surfers on the way back, if you want to go on all the rides it will be a very long day!

I think we were only 3 or so hours - we had a car

That concert is at the Entertainment Centre - easiest access is by train. You can drive but it can be a bit painful getting in/out. I’d stay in the CBD (you can easily walk or catch a ferry to Southbank.

Seaworld is at the Gold Coast so a 1-1.5hr drive by car. You could catch the train/bus too.

I'd stay in southbank. There's 2 train stations that you could catch a train to the entertainment centre from. There's lots of restaurants and parklands and swimming if it's warm enough. You could stay in the CBD which is still close to Southbank but not as much to do with kids. SeaWorld is on the Gold Coast and easy to do in a day but will still be a long day with travel.

The only reason I’d pick the CBD over Southbank is that if you plan to use the train a lot, you can just get on the right line at central and not bother with changing trains/platform - but I’m a bit lazy like that.

Thanks for all your replies. I think we will give SeaWorld a miss. I will look for a hotel near Southbank.

We recently stayed Oaks Casino Towers and it was brilliant. Very central. Top end of mall, easy access to Central. Straight across bridge to Southbank. Brilliant view of river and Southbank. Hotel pool with view. Excellent price per night. Would definitely stay there again.

Novotel in Brisbane is good and kids usually stay and eat free. If you want to go to SeaWorld if you stay at the resort you get free entry to the theme park so it can be worth it.

Thanks for the hotel recommendations.

Is Thunderbird Park worth doing and if so can you get to it from Brisbane via public transport?

Thunderbird park is fun but definitely not easy to get to via public transport.

How many days do you have in Brisbane? Would you consider hiring a car? Could easily go to SeaWorld if driving.

Lone Pine Koala sanctuary would be accessible from South Bank if you wanted to go there instead of somewhere down the Gold Coast (further away).
