nanny in Sydney CBD for 2.5 days

Recommended Posts

Hopeful2016

I am currently on mat leave but work has booked me on a course when my baby is 6 months old, held in a hotel in Sydney CBD. I would like to attend (although work would be understanding if I didnt), but would need to bring the baby with me as I will still be breastfeeding overnight, and I wouldnt want to be apart from her for 3 nights.

Is there such a thing as a very flexible Sydney nanny agency which would be able to provide a nanny based at the hotel for 2.5 days, without extortionate sign up fees, as it is just a one-off? Or are there any other options that I have not considered?

Thanks all

Is there someone you could take with you (mum, friend etc..) to look after Bub?

You could use the hotel babysitting service. It won’t be the cheapest option on a per hour basis, but it won’t have a sign up fee and will be someone who has agency checks.

Check out findababysitter. It’s an online intro service, most nannies have all the relevant checks, many are qualified childcare educators or teachers.

There is a service called Mayday Mummy. They are not cheap, but as far as I know there isn't a sign up fee as such, you just pay for the work they do. They are designed to be a 'mum substitute' for want of a better way of putting it and will do cooking, cleaning, transporting of kids. Basically they will take on the mum job for the time designated, including caring for sick children and random emergency overnight calls. They might not be the cheapest option, but they come highly recommended and will be very flexible. Including being able to bring the baby to you when a feed is needed.

There are a number of agencies in Sydney that will do casual nanny/babysitting. One of them is Rock My Baby (speak to Mireille). I haven’t used them personally but my wonderful former nanny has found work through them and she said they were good to work for and very thorough with their reference checking. They called me for a thorough reference check on my former nanny.

A lady I knew did this, her husband took annual leave and stayed with her.

She needed three days and it would have been around $1000 for a nanny.

You could try placing an ad on Juggle Street. I am in Sydney and found my nanny that way. I think it’s $30 to place the ad?
