Can you have a child in two services?

DS goes to childcare 5 days a week. I work a 7 day shift work cycle. I had been relying on XP but that is no longer an option. I was thinking perhaps he could go to FDC for the out of childcare hours. Down side is, it might cost a fortune.

Yes, you can. I know a few people who do this.

You can go to multiple centres. Many school children go to afterschool care with one organisation, and holiday program with another.

Yes, my DD did two days at a day care centre and two days at FDC for years until she started school.

Yes, we have done it when we could only get dd into some days at our preferred service.

Ok so its common. Has anyone used over 50 hrs a week? DS is in childcare 5 days a week so that will be his 50 hours used.

Its only a few months until the new Childcare Subsidy comes in.

That will pay a subsidy for a maximum 100 hours per fortnight, but you might find you get more back overall under the new rules.

eta: I don't think there are any rules preventing you from using beyond a certain number of hours childcare, its just there aren't any benefits paid on those hours beyond the maximum.

I had my kids in a full-time daycare centre and used FDC for nights and weekends. I applied to Centrelink for 75hours a week childcare benefit rather than the standard 50 hours, and it was approved with no hassles, however as pp said the new subsidy system is coming in very soon.
