Oestrogen cream for scarring

Recommended Posts

At my 6 week post partum check up my doctor suggested getting oestrogen cream to rub on to some scarring of my tears. Just wondering what the name is of a good cream? Google isn't helping me today

The only one I know of is Ovestin cream which is normally used for menopausal symptoms. It’s script only

Yep I used ovestin and it was by script from GP I used it after third degree tear as post birth our own levels are too low and helped me so much. I did find I needed some after my other 3 births as well as the scar tissue would need extra assistance with lubrication to feel normal. Once my period returned though I felt “normal”.

How odd that she didn't give me a prescription, I thought it was just an over the counter sort of cream because she told me to just go get some from the chemist

Hey. I'm also interested in this topic. My practitioner suggested switching to oral bioidentical progesterone because absorption might be better, but my blood tests show a good level of progesterone, and I would prefer to do topics than oral, because of frequent reactions to medications and allergies. I have a practice nurse who prescribes these creams and checks my hormones through the blood, at least annually. I'm 38 years old, I've been on them for about six years. I like to have them and can not imagine life without them. I came to this practitioner who discovered that I have very low thyroid activity, low adrenal levels and low reproductive hormones. I was a mess, and now I feel much better! I like that these creams are natural and not chemically altered, like synthetic ones. But if I could not get bioidentification, I would use synthetics, because I liked to support my hormones and feel better with them. That's why, when last year I began to experience pain during intercourse and some kind of atrophy, I was embarrassed that I was getting menopausal changes (which prevent hormonal creams). Then we finally found out that this is LS. I still feel that hormones help maintain vaginal (and systemic) health, as far as LS allows. I never had itch, and my vaginal tissues (although not vulva with white spots) are at least normal. I like to take natural hormones, because they help maintain heart health, bone health, skin health and health in pre-menopause in general. The study, which expressed concerns about hormone replacement therapy, was seriously mistaken and was refuted - it was on women who passed menopause a few years ago and who took oral synthetics. Maintaining our bodies on natural hormones earlier in the menopause period appears to be associated with good health markers. All the best to you.
