Not sure what to say

Recommended Posts

JRA

It is quiet in this forum, I am hoping that is a good sign.

I am not sure what I want to say, as I am still unsure if there is anything to say.

Many who frequent this forum will know. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June 2003, when DS was 6mths old. I had a mastectomy, chemo, no radio, all lymph nodes were clear, it was non hormonal, and now am on to a check up every 12 mths. I never had a reconstruction.

For years now I have had a rash on the area of the removed breast. It has always been aggravated by the breast form, so nowadays I tend to rarely use it.

Years ago I had it checked by a specialist and was just a rash. A GP a few years ago thought it may be fungal and we tried cortisone cream.

moving forward, DH has had a psoriasis on his leg for years, about 5 cm diameter, as he was having other skin things checked he raised concern about it again, and yes, it was a basel skin carcinoma. Given the size of it, it is a significant task to get it removed, but not "bad" as such.

I was having a skin mark checked on my face and asked the specialist to check my rash on my breast (or lack of) again. He was more confused by it and did two biopsies (where they do a punch in and get core) and had a couple of stitches.

The specialist rang me today that the final results are that the "Rash" is actually Paget's disease. I only saw my breast specialist a couple of months ago. I am now booked in to see her tomorrow at midday to found out what the process from here on is. The dermatologists words were "radiation, surgery or whatever is appropriate".

I am so sorry JRA. I hope your specialist can organise a treatment plan that is not too draining for you, but still kicks that cancer on its butt.

That really really sucks JRA. It's very hard when you don't know what the outcome will be. We are here to listen to your vents and to morally support you.
