When your 2 year old does something wrong and in the middle of telling him off he says,

"I love you Mummy, I love you."

And while you look down at him, unsure if you should continue to admonish him or just say I love you too, he comes out with.

"Let me give you a kiss and a cuddle, you'll feel better"

Administers said kiss and cuddle then says,

"You feel better now"

And wanders off to wreak more havoc.

As my son has grown he has moved on from the above to a perfect knack and incredible gift of being patronizing.

My five year old said to me yesterday "the good news is that I am now in control of my emotions again". Then his brother came and showed me the teeth marks.

'Mama, it's not bath time, it's cuddle time. Can you cuddle me so tight forever and ever?'

He's 3. I am already outplayed.

Mum, I love you more than anybody else in the whole wide world loved anybody else ever! Can you please let me squeeze you tight now?

Used only in extreme circumstances, but,oh,so effective! All reprimand cease for squeezing. Reprimand continues in only an embarrassingly small number of cases.

When I was about sixish and learnt how to write, I got mums wooden spoon out, the discipline wooden spoon, not the cake batter kind and u wrote "please don't mummy" on it. Next time she pulled it out when I was naughty she saw it and couldn't do it and she had to get rid of it.

Aw, tricky! Nice try. Be strong, Mom. Manipulative 3-year-olds become manipulative adults and that's not as cute.

"Aw, tricky! Nice try. Be strong, Mom. Manipulative 3-year-olds become even more cheeky 4years olds"

See...I fixed it for you.
