Thinking about getting hair extensions, my hair is fine and couple inches below shoulder length, would love some fullness for an upcoming trip. Anyone have them and can give me some advice type, tips, maintenance etc of course I'll chat to a recommended hairdresser however want some pre-eduction!

I've had clip ins, micro beads, tape, bonded and sewn in, so pretty much all of them lol.

How fine of hair do you have? Is it so fine that anything under the top layers show what's underneath or thicker then that?

I have thin hair on top, my two favorite extensions are clip ins and tape ins.

If I can't be bothered with tape ins I just get out my clip ins and chick them in. If I want more permenant (kinda) I get tape ins.

Tapes are easy to remove, they put this remover on the tape when they need to be adjusted and doesn't take my hair with it. Clip ins don't rip my hair out when removing either.

Micro beads are so easy to see in the hair and I wouldn't recommend them, bonded also rip the hair out when removed. Weaves are good but can be painful and I get headaches when they put them in, I go to an African hairdresser for weaves if I want them. I've found they do them the best.

Whatever you choose make sure it's real hair and not synthetic, synthetic can get ratty very quickly and look like a bad wig from a party shop where as the real hair is easier to wash and dry and style.

Forgot to add, my tape ins cost around $300/$400 for the extensions and $250ish for them to be put in and takes a few hours to get out in. Depending on how fast your hair grows you need to get them taken out and put back in every 4-6 weeks.

My hair grows so slow that I can push it to 8 weeks before it needs to get redone

Another ad lol I buy tape ins from this company and my hairdresser puts them in, I have to buy 2 packs for full head. I buy the clip ins aswell from these guys.

I'm early 40s so hair growth has slowed down! I had to grow out damaged hair and past 2 years have only had semi permanent hair colour and treatments. Hair is naturally thin. I used a special serum which has triggered quite a bit of new growth but there all only a couple inches long under my long hair so not enough to thicken my hair style, it will take quite a few years yet for the growth to have any impact. So sounds like tape in would be best and get me through my 3.5 week trip. I'll be attending a ladies day race meet when overseas and will need an updo to suit the gorgeous hat I just purchased...for the updo I'll need more hair!

If you put something like a comb under the top layer of your hair does it show through? Just be careful of the updo that the tracks don't show, that's the only danger with thin hair and up dos with extensions that they have to hide the tracks.

With extensions you also only brush from below the tape, you don't want to catch the tape in the brush and use a feta going brush.

Perhaps I might get a consultation first. I'm looking for a new hairdresser anyway my last lady left and I don't have much confidence in her replacement.

Honestly talk to a hairdresser that specializes in hair extensions. My hair salon I go to has only 2 people that are hair extension specialists, I wouldn't get any random hair dresser as if they mess it up its hard to fix.

When I get mine put in my hair dresser will colour and cut and dry my hair and then the specialist will take over and put the extensions in and blend in through my hair so it looks seamless they usually style it for me as well.

Just watching a few you tube hair extension clips - how do they go with washing styling and do they feel strange to have them?

Just watching a few you tube hair extension clips - how do they go with washing styling and do they feel strange to have them?

I've only ever had tape ones, but I also have very thin hair. The extensions seriously added to my getting ready time - I had to wash my hair every day or they sat funny, and blow drying took forever.

I found every time the tape was reapplied it took me 3-4 nights to get used to the feeling of sleeping on them. When the tape is right at the scalp it's a bit uncomfortable, but as it grows out, I barely noticed it. Then I'd have them reapplied and start all over again.

I took them out after about 5 months because I had to have them redone every 4-5 weeks or the tape would be too obvious, and I got really sick of how long it was taking me to get ready in the morning.

But they did look amazing and added serious thickness. For a trip like you're proposing, if the money was affordable, I'd totally do it.

Redken Cerafill Retaliate 5% and I only used it twice a week night before I washed my hair. It turns back on hair folicles that are in their dormant growth stage.

Has anyone tried Clip-in Hair extensions?

Once, I had long and beautiful hair. But unfortunately I had to chop it off for some reason. Seriously living with short hair is quite difficult, lol. So, I decided to go for clip-in hair extension. I haven't tried them before, please help me by sharing your experience with clip-in extension.

Thanks
