For those considering a Nipt test I would highly recommend it. I did the harmony test in my first pregnancy and at the time (only 2 years ago mind you) it was around $800. It's come down significantly now that they can do the analysis in Australia. It is a lot more accurate then previous tests, which for me being closer to 35 it provided more comfort.

I'm in all day sickness hell. It lasted until 16 weeks with my first and I'm 8+3 so likely another 8 weeks to go. Ugh.

Fabulous news on no spotting Borboleta, here's to no more bleeding for the rest of the pregnancy.

I'm 36, so I get the whole being higher risk thing. I'm leaning towards just getting the NT as my two previous pregnancies have been graded as very low risk for my age, but there's the little niggle that the late miscarriage was in part due to a chromosomal / genetic disorder. All the testing I've had since then can't find anything but DH refused to do his side of the testing so there's a small possibility of it still.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry i'm late to the party.

I'm probably going to end up squeezing into March 2017 due to my history of GD. My EED is 5th April but, I'm assuming i'll be delivering at the end of March is all goes well.

I hope you don't mind me joining you?

A little bit of background; This is my second IVF pregnancy. I have a 19 month old from my first round. I am very lucky.

I'm 37 years old and married.

I spent today in hospital with the threat of a miscarriage. Cervix is closed which is good but dr said it could go either way from here. I'm on bed rest until further notice. GP tomorrow and a scan to find out exactly what the cause of my sudden gush of blood and cramping was all about. Still cramping but blood has calmed right down to a few spots here and there.

Clumsy86 fingers crossed for you that everything works out well. Thinking of you. I'm off to my GP tomorrow too since I've been spotting on and off for a week now and I'm so so nervous that it'll be bad news. I also have a scan Thursday. These first few weeks are so nerve racking!

Hey Clumsy,

Not sure if you are in the 'other' group or not but I posted there today because I had a similar thing happen last night.

Sounds like you might of had more bleeding than me though. I called my ob last night and he booked me in for an ultrasound first thing this morning. I had assumed with bleeding and cramps it was all over but everything is looking good according to the scan. They couldn't find any reason for it. The ob said that seeing a heartbeat at 9 weeks which is what I am means the risk of mc is low and that bleeding is common. He said often it can be a blood vessel in the placenta pinching.

Have you had a scan previously?

I had a call from my ob office and was told that I have a low thyroid and need to see an endocrinologist asap. Strange because I'd had my levels checked not too long before I got pregnant and they were fine. Trying not to google too much and just wait to see the specialist!

Clumsy86 i hope everything goes ok today at your doctor - got all my fingers and toes crossed for you.

Riley and emmy you are so right - sometimes i just feel like i'm waiting for something bad to happen - when not if!

Hungryhippo thyroid function can vary including with pregnancy. I used to be hypothyroid but aren't anymore - that being said though, my OB said that if your TSH is over 2.5 (still normal range), they recommend taking thyroxine in pregnancy as there are some studies that show better outcomes.

I wouldn't panic about it - it's easily treated, and it's great that you know about it, so as long as your doctor is on top of it everything should be fine :)

Great news about your scan polkadot. These little jellybeans sure do like to keep us on our toes!

For me, my spotting has stopped, but i do occasionally get a brownish tinge to the usual discharge. Have a repeat OB appointment and scan on thursday to see how it's all going.

Sending everyone lots of love and virtual valium :)

Hi ladies, I had my first scan yesterday and was surprised with the news that we are expecting twins! The egg split so they are identical. Is anyone else out there also having twins?

Congratulations Reillyg how exciting!

I don't think there is anyone else in the Ma Chau group that knows they are having twins.

How are you feeling about it?

As you can imagine it was a massive shock! A happy shock but also scary. We want 2 kids, neither of us are getting any younger but we didn't consider that this might happen to us. It was an IVF cycle, we had already had 1 failed transfer so we thought about going rogue and trying naturally during the month as well as doing the frozen transfer but the nurses told us not to because the egg can split, blah, blah, blah. We thought 'as if that will happen to us'! Luckily we didn't DTD as we might have ended up with triplets! My initial reaction was of disbelief and joy, it will be hard for the first few years but I think of how great it will be that they will have a best friend in each other. DH is freaking out about the school fees already! The great news is they are both measuring where they should be and they both had strong heartbeats. I'll be 9 weeks tomorrow. We hadn't told our parents that we were pregnant (waiting for the scan first) so we hit them with a massive surprise last night and then had an awesome celebration with our closest friends who we also told last night. Will take a bit of getting used to as everything we thought in terms of prams, cots, etc will be double.

In terms of nausea I was feeling pretty ok this morning but suddenly had to run to the bathrooms at work to throw up, first time the general queasiness feeling has progressed to that level :(

Lucky you didn't dtd! How special to have identical twins!

I have a few friends who have twins and it seems like the first 6 months in particular are the hardest and after a year a bit easier again. Seeing them together as toddlers is the cutest, holding hands and running around together.

I'm sure eb's with twins will have some great tips. And hopefully you have some good family support.

I'm 8 weeks and had a similar thing on Friday. I had an ultrasound immediately (as in, a few hours later) and another on Monday at the early pregnancy assessment clinic at the local hospital. Both look perfect- the hospital ultrasound was amazing as the baby actually looked like a baby and not a blob. Here's hoping your rush of blood was also 'one of those things' and nothing to worry about.

My baby's heart rate was 131 @6w1d... If anyone has had a scan, what was the baby's heart rate??

At 6 weeks 0 days ours was 113bpm. At 8 weeks 0 days it was 158pbm. :)

Yay LoveMySnuggles! More twins!! I'd due on 15 March. I've found a group on the site we aren't meant to mention that is for twins due in March (set up by ladies in a different forum). There are about 5 of us in it at the moment. I will PM you with the details if you want to come and join us :)

See my other thread "Miscarriage Threat" for the update. It's confusing to say the least.

Hi Clumsy86,

I just saw your update about your scan today being all normal in the other thread and wanted to say tentative congratulations! I know it's not a threat passed yet, but what a reassuring thing to be told. The person who did your ultrasound sounds like they were fabulous and so good to hear those words. Don't reckon I've ever aspired to be or hear anything about me described as 'normal' as when pregnant!

Try to be gentle to yourself, physically and emotionally, over the weekend.
