So, how much urgency should I apply? *updated all clear*

Update***

I went to have my biopsy last Tuesday. They did another ultrasound, decided that whatever it was was clearing on its own, from the progression through the last 3 ultrasounds the duct was less dilated. No need for a biopsy. I haven't had any more symptoms.

So they have given me the all clear, it turned out to be nothing nasty.

I've had some weird breast symptoms the last few days. 4 instances (that I've noticed) of spontaneous (ie, not squeezing) bloody discharge from one breast, just a small amount.

I know it's not normal and I am planning to go to the doctor this week. I'm not breastfeeding and haven't for about a year now.

I spoke to an acquaintance who is a medical professional and very knowledgeable about breast cancer, who said that I needed to get to the dr asap, like first thing in the morning (I had been planning to go Friday...)

Until recently my family history was zero, but last year my little sister was diagnosed with breast cancer at 29, she's still undergoing treatment. The brca test was negative but the geneticist said (in writing) that such a young onset of such an aggressive cancer is very likely genetic - they just haven't found the gene - and that I should be very vigilant because I'm now high risk.

So, I know that when I talk to the doctor, likely all hell will break loose and the next few weeks will disappear with tests.

I am exploring my own feelings of reluctance to make waves, disrupt my life, and decide whether to go to see my GP tomorrow. My friend will hassle me relentlessly until I go!

So, wise people of EB, how freaked out should I be?

Sensibly concerned. And yes, gp tomorrow. Don't leave it til fri. Gp can only refer on and that even fast tracked takes a bit. All the best.

There is no way I'd be waiting until Friday. I'm not meaning to scare you, as I have no idea what it could be (bad or easy fix) but those are issues that would have me at the GP pronto.

Sorry you are going through this.

Yes, you need to see a doctor asap.

How hard is it to get same day appointments? If you call up as soon as they are open, and explain to the receptionist it's urgent, hopefully you can be seen asap.

I can get an appointment no problems. It's not really a logistics issue to go tomorrow, it's more a reluctance, part busy life in general, part denial.

OK, life is busy. If I tried to leave it until Friday I would be so distracted in the meantime nothing would be achieved anyway.

Please go sooner rather than wait.

Glad you are going in tomorrow. By gong in on a Monday if you need to be referred to a specialist you could possibly get in this week. If you waited until Friday, it would be another week before you saw a specialist.

Glad to hear that you are booked in.

My sister and I went mental at mum when she discovered she put off secondary exploration of a lump in her breast for 6wks!! Her excuse was "your brother was getting married, then there was Christmas and New Years etc".

A major case of head in sand and not wanting results. We were lucky that the lump ended up just being a calcified deposit but the fact she was in denial for 6wks avoiding the appointment made us super cranky. If it had been something more those six weeks could have been crucial.

Good decision not to wait. Whatever it is, it already is. Investigating now vs waiting... won't change that it already is, whatever medical issue it already is.

I'm very much hoping there is a simple explanation and it isn't serious.

Check in tomorrow and let us all know how you go. We will all be thinking of you!

Really glad you made an appointment leisamd! Fingers crossed for you. Sorry I have no idea when it comes to this, but if it is serious, the sooner something is done about it, the better the outcome and if it's nothing, what's the point of making yourself stress about it any longer than you have to?
