3rd Child? #46. For those thinking about or actively TTC'ing their third child

Recommended Posts

Jamelex

A new thread has inspired me to come out of lurkdom, haha. We have DS1 3yrs and DS2 12 months. We are pretty certain we would like a number three and have been starting to look a little into gender swaying for a girl but we don't want to complicate things too much either as DS1 was IVF. Some days I can barely cope though, and wonder what the hell we're doing talking about a third!

Anyone else still here from the previous thread? Hannahbannah? Tryingfor#3? Hope you're all well :)

I wish I was trying!!

We have a dd who is 8 and a dd who is 5 and now I am concerned we have left it too long to start trying for a third. I really want one more child my husband doesn't really want to go back to the baby stage now both dad's will be at school next year.

Good luck ladies!!

Thought I would update, AF final arrived after a 54 day cycle!!! So crazy. So over these stupid cycles. Have decided to stop charting etc as after all this time, it didn't make a difference. I became so obsessive over it that I was going crazy. I hope that 2015 is my year. After 2 years of TTC I am getting tired.

Just wondering how old everyone is who is trying for #3?

I am 35, will be 36 in March.

I had DD at 29 and DS and 31 (a few days before my 32nd birthday).

I never wanted a big gap between 2 and 3.... but some things aren't meant to be.

It's quiet in here.... for those reading I just wanted to share something adorable.

My eldest (6 year old girl) said to me out of nowhere... mummy I asked Father Christmas for a real baby for you...and then proceeded to give me a huge, long hug. It made me so teary, what a sensitive little soul I have x

Hi ladies

As of a couple of days ago I'm joining you in TTC #3!

I've pretty much been hassling DH all year and he finally said yes. We had one go the other night which was prob at end of my fertile phase so I'm not expecting a result straight away. But def looking forward to a BFP in 2015 :)

I'm 39 in Jan, have 2 DDs (4 and 2) so the clock's a-ticking!

Hi

My husband and I have two girls - 4 and (nearly) 2 years old.

We're kind of contemplating #3 but still unsure. Some days we both love the idea, other days we are so happy to be over the baby stage and we don't want to create more chaos in our lives lol.

Was anyone else hesitant about trying for #3? If so, what got you over the hump? (If you don't mind answering, of course).

Hi ladies! I would love to join if you will have me :)

DH came round to the idea of having #3 about 4-5 months ago and we are going to start TTC in the next few months!

We have two girls already, nearly 6 and 2.5yrs, and fully expect another daughter to join the family! No one in my family seems to have boys! Lol

DH and I will both be 30 this year.

Feral Nelly - I always wanted 3, DH was more than happy with 2. I think what got him to decide was the fact that not having another bub was going to cause me more pain than having a third would do to him.

I'm dipping my toes in. But might vanish again.

We are kind of trying for number 3. I have wanted a third for the last 18 months. DH has sort of come around for it but we are not really actively trying if that makes sense? He is in charge of the contraception side of things and sometimes he uses it and others he doesn't. I wish he would just make up his mind but it has taken him this long to come around to the idea of a third (he has only been wary of another due to finances.)

But I am worried we might have left it too late as my cycles have been all over the place for the last year and I do know that I am borderline PCOS (cycle length is 28-32 days with the odd month I am a week late or a week early. But actually Ovulation seems to be all over the place. I have had ultrasounds previously due to a family history of ovarian cancer. Apparently I have a lovely fertile lining.). So I am trying to shift weight and get healthier (not just for TTC but to be generally healthier) and trying not to obsess over figuring out when I am ovulating, am I ovulating, did we do the deed at the right time.

Currently I am in the TWW. I think. But we might have missed ovulation, though DH seems to have decided to try this month. He said something about hoping we had made a little girl the other night.

Oh and we have two boys already. Currently 6 and 4.5. 1 at school and 1 starting school in feb. A large gap but honestly, after experiencing the small gap previously nothing under the sun would get me to do that age gap again.

suppose I'll join too! I have 2 DD's 6.5 and nearly 4. DH is adamant on third, but I am not so sure. Being pregnant impacts on my health and I don't know if I want to go down that path again.

Physically I need to lose weight and mentally I don't know if I can do it. but my girls are older now so it should be fine. Its also the thought of dragging a baby around to sporting activities and the like. That's a bigger drawback than the sleepless nights!

But then on the other hand I am ridiculously clucky. Its doing my head in trying to decide.

I look forward to hearing everyones stories/struggles on the way.

I'll join in. Hi everyone.

We had decide that DD would be our last, despite me always wanting 3 kids, and I was fine with that decision.

DH has now decided he would really like 3! I'd love another baby (I mean who wouldn't they are just gorgeous) but I'm also nervous. I was diagnosed with PND recently after I stopped breastfeeding. Medication is helping though.

I really had hoped that I DDs round of ovulation induction would be my last. I can handle the needles just fine but the internal ultrasounds are unnerving. I'm a prude so my stomach is always in knots for my fertility specialist appointments.

I haven't had a period naturally in 15 years so I don't hold out hope I will fall pregnant on my own by some miracle. I would be happy if I did though.

The logistics of fitting 3 car seats in our car, who would share a room and what age gap we should go for seems to be the only thing holding me back at the moment.

I'm thinking the sooner the better? DD is a dream baby and always has been. I hope the next isn't a non sleeping screamer like DS.

Mayahlb - I have a 3.5yr gap and really loved having DD1 be old enough to fend for herself a bit, so think the bigger age gaps are great! We will end up with another 3.5ish year gap this time round more than likely.

Bazinga hope you don't have to go through too many rounds of ovulation induction before you get your BFP

Yeah, sooner the better :)

2anewme hopefully this pregnancy might be different? My first was a dream, second was close to a nightmare. I'm hopeful the third full term pg will be like the first. I am probably kidding myself but lets do that together :) even if I end up as sick as I was with DD2 I think getting another person to love and watch grow and share my life with is worth it. I got obstetric cholestasis and DD (and a nasty chest infection) fractured one of my ribs. All worked out in the end but I was so anxious and ill for months.

Whitelily I hope your next pregnancy is better. It sounds awful. My second was certainly more err eventful the my first, with threatened preterm labour and a flight to another hospital that took babies younger then 36 weeks. Extra scan because he stopped moving for ages.

Bazinga I hope it doesn't take too long so you don't have to go through it for too long.

I am purposefully trying take my mind off being in the tww and what could be potentially early pregnancy symptoms. Especially as I get many of the symptoms normally in the premenstral stage. It's also why I refuse to take a test until a week after af is due (and I've had many of one months). My boobs though are driving me completely nuts this month. I struggle with the hope of being pregnant and then having af arrive some months.

And then I swing between stressing about what are we doing trying for a third. I'm at the stage where my kids are going to be in school, they don't need constant supervision. How am I going to cope with a third? What is I spiral down into pad and then refuse to acknowledge it like last time? What if I get a child like my second, who to be perfectly honest was a nightmare baby. He never slept (as in awake for 16 hours then asleep for maybe an hour and then awake for hours upon hours again, he had weight gain issues and was failure to thive until 18 months, he had severe intolerances to dairy and soy, he would not take a bottle at all and I could just not make enough milk). And then I remind myself that it is not that I want a baby, I want to raise another child, watch them grow, learn new things, smile at me and cuddle close. Take steps towards being independent and have that relationship of being a mother to another child.

Ahh my head is all over the place.

Nu-Mumma sorry to hear AF arrived but good hear your cycle is coming back to a regular one.

I'm still waiting at the moment. AF is due Thursday/Friday. I don't really have any hope we caught the egg this month through as I think we missed ovulation when we did DTD. I'm just trying not to think about it, though my boobs are still hurting which is annoying me.

I'm just starting the TWW so fingers crossed we caught the egg this month!

Good luck to those of you deciding whether to start TTC.

well it looks like I am out. Spotting last night and today, as well as cramps which normally means AF will arrive very soon. 4 days early but that works for when I thought I o'd. Wish my cycle would just stick with the plain 30 days it used to rather then 32 one month, 27 the next, sometimes 29, 31 or 32. Urg

Mayahlb - what is with the second babies giving us a harder pregnancy? Hopefully the third babies go easy on us! Unfortunately, I have a pretty good chance of at least getting OC again but at least I will be prepared for it.

Sorry to hear AF has turned up for a few ladies :(

Good luck Pssst, hopefully there will be a BFP for you very soon :)

AFM DH surprised me and said I can stop taking my pill, few months earlier than I expected and we won't be TTC straight away, I just made comment that I was sick of having the hormones mess up my body and he said to just stop them! Silly thing is he only just made me get a new script and I'm half way thru a packet. Oh well, will finish the pack and then I'm done with the BCP forever!! Wahoo! (Dh will have the snip after bub #3)

Anyway, bedtime for me. Chat later

tryingfor#3 - I hope this is your year too

Whitelily - oh that is eat about your DH saying that about the pill. I can't tolerate artificial hormonal contraception, it makes me so ill. I think DH will be happy to get the snip after #3.

I ended up thinking that it was probably a good thing we were not pregnant this month last night. We have a big overseas holiday coming up end of June and I probably would have been pushing it traveling at that late a date in pregnancy (I think it would have been around the 27/28 mark). Oh well I am going to try and see if we can try a bit better with the whole timing thing this month. I remember with TTC for our 2nd that we never had any luck until we dtd right on the day I was ovulating.
