Natural Products Listing

Recommended Posts

Victory

I just had a *light-bulb* moment in the shower, and wondered what the H happened to my 'natural' lifestyle. I am surrounded by chemicals! I would love to put together a list of alternatives to stuff that we use. I'm just going to list some stuff off the top of my head that I do use, and then a list of stuff that I would like to change.

Kid's baths - Oats

Nappy Care - Chamomile/Cornflour/Water

Face Toner - Witch Hazel

Tinea - Tea Tree Oil

Bodywash - Castile Vegetable Oil Soap

Oh dear. Is that all?

I would love to know what other people do for the following (Doesn't have to be naturally occurring as such, but maybe a particular brand of something that is *better* IYKWIM?)

  • Shampoo/Conditioner
  • Toothpaste
  • Exfoliant
  • Hair Products(Spray,Mousse,Gel,Wax etc)
  • Dandruff Treatment
  • Face Cleanser
  • Moisturiser (Body & Face)
  • Deodrant
  • Mouthwash
  • Shaving Cream (for DH)
  • Dishwasing Liquid
  • Floor Cleaner
  • Clothes Washing
  • NapiSan equiv
  • Domestos
  • Toilet Cleaner
  • Leave-in Cond Spray for DD's Knotty Hair
  • Pre Wash Spray

Gosh, that seems like a lot, but I'm sure it's not all!

Would love any and all input on the above, and with enough replies we could maybe get it made into a sticky post?

I'm not terribly creative like this, but I definatly think it's a great idea to have a sticky listing everything, so it's all ncie and idiot proof! ;)

I use a range of natural products for cleaning the house and ourselves called trinature - trinature.com

I found that I kept forgetting what natural product I should use for cleaning what, and then came across this stuff.

I started using Trinature a few months back and absolutely love it. Loved it so much I have joined up as a distributor. Am in Vic if you need info or would like to purchase sample sized products to try.

Fantastic list Brazen! Go the bicarb, hey.

So do you have little separate containers of it for each purpose? Like for teeth brushing etc

We have slate floor - do you know anything about a steam mop for that?

DH uses Domestos to clean the atrociously mouldy walls that we get in our bathroom every Winter.

Anyone know anything good for dandruff?

And I guess warm salt water for mouth wash?

And Ella's clothes get so messy that I am finding that I am Napisaning every week, I just don't know how else to get her stuff clean. Texta, food spills, grimy sleeves etc

And what do you reckon, do I just throw out or give away the products we have ATM, or wade through all that stuff first?

We use alchemy bodywashes, shampoos and conditioners and have used their skincare as well. Would NEVER ever use soap. I use the bodywash in bath for kids too. See www.Purist.com.au

I tried alchemy but had to use half a bottle to get it through my hair (I have a LOT of quite fine hair).

for dandruff, i'm not sure but i'd imagine the rosemary shampoo i use from B&B would be good - isn't rosemary good for dandruff?

i'm not sure about slate floors sorry nicole, we only have tiles, soon to be floating floorboards :)

i just buy those 1kg boxes of bicarb and keep one on the top of the shower. use it from there. it's great stuff :)

Alright, I have found a few things online.

Aromababy do a detangling spray (which doubles as a nappy cleaner spray)

Have found a kids toothpaste at healthyhabitat.

Got the udder cream from moogoo for Dh to shave with.

Love all the beebeauty stuff. Had forgotten about them. I bought a baby pamper pack from them for a friend a few months ago. They have a beer soap that is meant to me good for dandruff.

Umm, still chasing a hairgel for DH, some 'bubbly' bathwash for the kids occasionally, a 'manly' smelling body spray (like Lynx etc)

And think I will go Jurlique for shampoos etc as my stuff runs out.

nicole 2,

We buy a bubble bath from the health food store by Envirocare and that's pretty good, they last awhile.

For dandruff, apple cider vinegar mixed with warm water helps a lot to. About 1/4Cup to 1Cup.

(I wrote a reply to this lastnight, but the board went funny)

Shampoo/Conditioner - I use a bit of baking soda in a mug of warm water for shampoo, followed by an acv rinse.

Toothpaste - We both use either the Grants (green writing) or the Red Seal one from the health food store.

Exfoliant - a bit of sugar wet with a bit of water.

Dandruff Treatment - ACV rinse

Face Cleanser - I just use warm water, occasionally witch hazel

Moisturiser (Body & Face) - i don't use any on my face, but for my body i use almond oil with essential oil in.

Deodrant - deo crystal or the deo crystal spray

Shaving Cream (for my leg's/pits) - i use vegesorb (our local chemist now sell's it to)

Mouthwash - dentaforce herbal concentrate or sea salt/warm water

Dishwasing Liquid - either 2 tsps of baking soda dissolved in warm water or earth's choice (coles)

Floor Cleaner - boiling water/vinegar/euculyptus oil or tea tree oil, sometimes a drop of castile liquid soap.

Clothes Washing - planetark powder. i also add baking soda and vinegar to.

Toilet Cleaner - 1Cup of baking soda left overnight, with a few drops of tea tree oil or castile liquid soap (i use pump it a few times, then swish). Vinegar nutrilises the toilet to.

Cat shampoo (every few months she get's done) - castile liquid soap.

I love the Envirocare stuff- and it's cheap too which makes it even better!

I use their body/hair wash in the shower instead of soap, and if I run out of shampoo I use it on my hair. I also use it as a face wash if I run out of my Akin face wash (which I love!).

I use different things as far as shampoo and conditioner go- I by most of it from www.biome.com.au which has a lot of good products.

For the floor- I prefer to use my Enjo mop with water only. We have ceramic tiles, but you can use Enjo on all floor types. Still trying to convince my DH that he doesn't need chemicals to clean the floor. If you want to use something, I'm pretty sure Envirocare make a rose/geranium floor cleaner that I've heard good reports about.

I use an Envirocare/clean product in my dishwasher, and another one as a pre-wash stain remover.

I use Aware laundry powder.

I just bought a Rosehip oil moisturiser which is lovely.

I use Enjo microfibres for alot of other cleaning, like the bathroom etc. The best thing for preventing mould, is drying water off. Even if you use a chemical such as domestos, the mould will keep growing unless you try to remove as much moisture as possible. I have a couple of old cloth nappies in the bathroom, and whoever is last in the shower will wipe everything down.

Have few more, but the baby is crying so better go!

Zoe :)

Here is what I use

There is a brand called Natural Instinct (www.naturalinstict.com.au) and another called Pure Earth www.pureearth.com.au that sell toiletries, cleaning, dishwashing and baby products. No sodium lauryl sulphate etc.

I buy toothpaste called Natural Red Seal with no SLS and no fluoride available from the health food isle in Coles or Health Zone.

For cleaning my house I use Enjo. Just uses water, the fibres do the rest.

Enjo also make a body range. I use their face and body mits, means you dont have to use any exfolients and washes.

I use a mix of tea tree oil, bicarb soda and vinegar to clean the toilet. tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic.

I bought a baby wash from the chemist today - Natural Intstinct. Smells lovely - all natural and good price. $8 for 250 mls.

Any other cheap ideas?

I'm still trying to find a decent pre-wash spray for the girl's clothes. I have been using Orange Power, but I don't reckon it's working.

Any other ideas?

I soak a lot of clothes (how dirty all over does a commando crawling child get!!??) in Envirocare powder (I think) but sometimes it's just a texta spot or grimy sleeves that I used to just spray rather than soak.
