Waking baby up

Recommended Posts

Autumn baby 2013

Hi

I have been told to wake dd after two and half hrs during the day so as to stretch her night sleeps, but I'm not sure about waking a sleeping baby, if they are sleeping they need it, can anyone give advice please.

The only time I woke any of my babies was DS2, who was early. He was fed every 2 hours to start with, then every 3, but initially he was tube fed anyway. After we went home, I fed him on demand.

Is there any reason other than sleeping?

ETA I don't belong here, came through from "We are discussing"

I did find limiting my baby's day sleeps helped him sleep through the night, and longer.

I tended to wake mine in the first 2 months if they slept for more than 3 hrs. DS was inclined to get his days & nights mixed up so I was a bit stricter with him than DD. my approach was to encourage them to feed more in the day than the night & do their longer stretches of sleep in the night.

How long you let her sleep us up to you, I liked to feed mine approximate 3 hourly in the day so would wake them when the feed was due more or less.

You could always just try it and see how it goes.
