Lego or Megablocks or both?

Can they be used together? Have seen sets in both I would like to get for DD. Which do you recommend?

In our house, I wish we had subscribed to the 'One or the Other' mantra.

Although they look like they should be interchangeable, they are not.

Lego is a far superior product (in my opinion).

We have both.

The MegaBloks do not join with the Lego satisfactorily. I do not feel that the MegaBloks stay together nearly as well as the Lego does.

Although, it must be said, they both make the same noise going up the vacuum cleaner. ;)

Lego works much better, but we will buy Megablocks if there is a particular part we want - particularly if it is is a moving part.

I think it largely depends on your budget.

Lego is a superior product but be prepared to take out a second mortgage on your house to pay for it. ;)

Having said that, I bought a huge amount second hand on ebay so maybe give that a try.

Cheers

Definitely lego if you are choosing between the two, both my kids had lego and megabloks and I found that each time they always enjoyed playing with the lego over the megabloks, they are so much easier to build and they are less likely to fall apart.

Lego.

It also lasts, my kids play with mine and DHs Lego from 35yrs ago at their grandmothers houses.

Megablocks is thinner, cheaper plastic but it still works fine and once it's all mixed in together is hard to tell apart.

Lego no question . DH is a block snob it's Lego or nothing i love that man, lol.

When the kids get too old for duplo they are going to inherit DH's extensive Lego collection which we spent one insane week pre kids sorting by size colour and function cos we are weird and were probably dillisional that out future offspring would keep it in order and packed away after each use  . We also thought it would be hilarious to give them a different kind of block at Christmas/birthdays each year "OMG green finally we can make grass!"
