Don't want to go back to work

So all going well, I am going to have two bubbies in 13 months. My oldest daughter is 11 (previous relationship), and lil Miss has just gone 5 months and due late Dec now. I have loved being home with both of them in the last six months - it's not something I got to do for long with my oldest but to be honest I have always been someone who likes to work so it wasn't a big decision for me then. I have just gone back to work again, and honestly I hate it. I mean partly cause I don't enjoy the job, but being in a different place emotionally with my partner and how I feel about being a Mum and our family is soooo different now and I have been considering not going back to work after the next one. Not for awhile anyway. I mean with two in fulltime daycare my wage would basically be for daycare only, so why not stay at home where I'm happiest?

Any thoughts or advice from SAH mums would be greatly appreciated. My SOH completely supports it but I guess I'm worried about bills, costs, etc - how do people go with mortgages etc? I have been a working single mum for so long before this that it scares me. I would probably look for a work from home job if I can find something part time, but don't even know where to start with that either.

Hi Whoopsie

I am not a stay at home mum, but I can relate to your predicament. I don't have kids at the moment, this will be my first. I work full time as a teacher and I just don't enjoy working full time. Its more than a full time job it feels and i don't have enough time currently for me and my hubby let alone a child as well.

So I'm definitely going to take 12 months off and then I don't know what to do after that. I know that I probably won't like being at home full time either. But I just don't know. I teach high school so part time jobs are hard to come by. I like my school and ideally would stay there part time if I could but I can't see it happening, I don't think they would really want to do that cos it's too hard to timetable. And part time in high school could still have me there spread out any time over the week.

Ill have 12 months to think about it anyway. I am fairly confident though I do not want to go back to full time work, so starting to make lists of alternative jobs! Family day care is something that I think I would like to do
