Successful Vbacs Perth?

Recommended Posts

tkay30

Hello all, I know this topic has probably been discussed before, please direct me to the appropriate topics for more information.

My first baby was by emergency c/section for failing to progrss but looking back now I am not convinced it was an absolute emergency. I am now expecting again and I would like to have a vbac and I would like to speak to someone who has done it before or just any feedback on how to go about it. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

I have moved your topic from the Hospitals forum and into the Vaginal Birth Preparation forum where there is also a VBAC Chat thread.

Kind regards,

I had a sucessful Vbac at king Eddy. I was private in a public hospital and they were wonderful !!!!

Do as much preparation as you can - DH and I did a VBAC preparation class beforehand. And I did heaps of reading.

Good Luck !!!

Joondalup Public is now known as being VBAC friendly. Not the private obs however. Arms dale is another one that has a lot of success. Privately, there's virtually no chance. I had a VBAC at a private hospital around 5 years ago but I had to fight every inch of the way and was not allowed to go back there if I wanted another VBAC.

I'd highly recommend contacting the NBAC Clinic at King Edward Memorial Hospital. Best of luck.

I had a VBAC at king eddies 5 years ago. I went in their team midwifery program in the KYM team. I felt very supported by the midwives and some of the drs. They now have the NBAC clinic which would be my first option if I was having anymore, which I am not.

Yep, me too at KEMH. I really loved the hospital, would go back again in a heartbeat (even though I had a horrible midwife for my VBAC which tarnished the experience somewhat).

KEMH is the best place to go. I was going to have my VBAC at Osborne Park and was told they'd support me - up until my 34 week appointment when they started putting the hard word on me for a repeat c/s. I went home and immediately transferred to KEMH.

I had a fantastic VBAC attempt at KEMH, even though it didn't work out for a few reasons. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. I'm going back there this time for elective c/s too.

I would recommend going to a birthrites meeting http://www.birthrites.org/ you will find all the info here. I would go every month speaking with other people who were aiming for a vbac or had experienced one.

I would highly recommend talking to some doulas that have had clients experience vbac births.

I had an attempted vbac with my DS2 at King Edward which became a repeat emergency ceaser due to severe adhesions.

We have moved countries but still aiming to have a VBA2C in the next month.

Hope you find the information and support you need. Feel free to PM me for more info. Best wishes for your pregnancy and birth journey

My OB was as a result of recommendations and a lot of reading.

All my appointments were at their rooms in Mercy Hospital in Mt Lawley. I think its now a St John of God Hospital but I think their rooms are still there - it's a separate business to the hospital - if that makes sense.

It was great for parking and appointments. Gave birth at King eddy. Great !!! Highly recommend them.

Although the OB completely missed the birth - the 2 King Eddy midwives - one of which was a student, did all the work. I have a feeling they called the OB too late to get there on time on purpose- he was pretty p*ssed off he missed it - seems the student midwife needed to get a certain amount of "births" under her belt before graduating.

That didn't go down very well with me as I think of all the money we spent on private health and out of pocket expenses.

Birth at King Eddy was great. I did it twice. DS2 in 2008 and DS3 in 2013. My original csection was at Mercy ( DS1 in 2006)with a different OB - who I completely discounted at the 6 week check up for any further OB services ( we had planned more kids).

I asked about future kids and natural birth and he said - why bother just have them all c section- its easier. OMG - never been more disgusted with a doctor in my life.

C-sections are easier for the doctor - my recovery from my C-section was way worse ( and 10.5 years later I still get infections in my scar line) than my 2 VBACS ever were ( no issues even now).

My 1st csection was purely that the placenta was sort of blocking the babys exit and they couldn't be sure it wouldn't completely slip down and totally block it during a natural birth - so after watching the placement on scans for about 15 weeks it was decided to do a csection to be safe. No other issues like diabetes/ high blood pressure/ preeclampsia or anything else in any of my pregnancies.

Congratulations... So great to hear you say that! I really want to do the same... Is there any way you can tell me the name of your obstetrician? I've spent so many hours reading, but I can't seem to find specific recommendations for obs at kemh!

I don't think I'm able to pm you unfortunately... But my email address is joanners@hotmail.com if you're able to let me know. I'd be so grateful!
