The Taga converts from a stroller to a pushbike with child seat in seconds.
If you’re looking for a fun way to get the kids out and you exercising then you should consider take the family for a spin in the Taga.
This clever piece of engineering converts from a stroller to a bike that you can ride with your child in a few simple steps. Recently arrived on Australian shores the Taga has been receiving rave reviews in Europe, both for its design and the green cred of ditching the car.
We’d probably use it as a bike more than a pram. It looks wide and I admit I was dubious when it arrived, but it definitely fits though a standard door width as both a bike and a pram.
The child bike seats are centred in front of you between the handle bars. When you’re cycling this feels safer having one or both in front of you where you can see exactly what happening. We only had the one seat but you can get an extra seat to make room for 2 kids at once. Weight wise you could have a 6 year old and a 3 year old plus the cyclist, though it’s probably more suited to younger kids. The aluminium frame is more rigid and suited to carrying the higher loads than a normal bike.
My husband is the cyclist in our family and he was impressed with the bike specs. The Taga has advanced disk brakes on the front wheels, Shimano roller brake on the rear wheel and a Shimano Nexus Inter-3 internal gear hub.
I was more impressed with the colour range. It comes in four colours and they’re all nice and bright and visible. The chain is also fully sealed so there’s no chance something or someone will get caught when in motion.
With three wheels it’s stable. Much easier to get everyone on and off and get started. There’s also an easily operated park break in both stroller and bike mode.
Most importantly it’s fun. Both my kids loved going it, which makes a pleasant change from trying to wrangle my 2 year old into a pram. My main problem was the requests for speed, 'Faster Mummy, cycle like Daddy'.
