Kids' yoghurt recalled due to choking hazard

A recall has been issued for a range of kids' yoghurt pouches sold nationally in all major retailers.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and NSW Food Authority, Parmalat Australia has recalled an assortment of its 110g Tamar Valley Dairy Kids Yoghurt Pouches due to a packaging fault, which poses a choking hazard to children.

Specifically, after resealing, some of the green mushroom-shaped caps are failing, resulting in a possible choking risk.

 Affected products are as follows:

  • Tamar Valley Dairy Kids Tropical All Natural Greek Yoghurt, 110g, metallic pouch, Use by 20th August 2017 through to 25th September 2017 inclusive
  • Tamar Valley Dairy Kids Vanilla All Natural Greek Yoghurt, 110g, metallic pouch, Use by 20th August 2017 through to 25th September 2017 inclusive
  • Tamar Valley Dairy Kids Strawberry All Natural Greek Yoghurt, 110g, metallic pouch, Use by 20th August 2017 through to 1st October 2017 inclusive

Yoghurts also bear these identifying details:

  •  APN strawberry 9310036046820

Pouches were sold nationally in these locations:

Parents are advised not to allow children to consume the yoghurts - and to return affected pouches to the place of purchase for a full refund

"Parmalat is greatly concerned by any risk to its consumers," the company said in a statement. "This recall is being undertaken to ensure the safety of our consumers as an ongoing commitment to maintain the highest possible standards of safety and product quality at all times."
