The second Trimester, a whole new Journey

21st week 26th week

I guess it works differently for everyone but I was one of those lucky people where the second trimester was a whole new world. No more throwing up every night and morning, no more feeling so tired and getting used to all the hormones... I feel great and ready to conquer the moon.

My doctor was also a bit concerned about me doing much exercise until 12 weeks (mainly as my case is more delicate being triplets) but now I got the all clear.
From week 14 until 26 I am making the most of it and using all this energy as much as I can.  Who knows how long this will last? Better make good use of the good days...

I have being going to Pilates for pregnant woman (please note this is not the usual Pilates class in the gym, which my doctor was completely against, but a specific one which is almost like private classes with certified instructors). I also joined Aquamums (hydro-gymnastics) which I go most Wednesdays, and after the session I try swimming for at least another half hour.

This month I managed to fit a few trips to enjoy and celebrate this phase. We had my mother in-law, sister and nice visiting from United Kingdom for 4 weeks. We went to many of my favourite places in Victoria: Great Ocean Road, Twelve Apostles, Cumberland River, Wilson’s Promontory, Yarra Valley, etc...  (well, this time it wasn’t camping trips as we normally do, cabins are awesome and they are my new find, I am sure we will be back to those once the bubs arrive in this world – after all I am not sure camping is great with babies  - I would guess up to 1 year?) we will find out eventually :)

We’ve done a few hikes (nothing too steep or dangerous obviously) and I enjoyed leading the group. I feel  quite proud about that and I have being constantly bragging on my Facebook status about all my achievements :) (I can’t resist). My friends call me “the most active triplet pregnant lady they know”. (well, I am probably the only one they know thou)

Not to mention that for Christmas we went to Noosa with 15 good friends and still went to Sydney after to celebrate the New Year and see the famous fireworks from Shark Island. I started to move around a bit more slowly but still managed to fit a good walk from Rosebay to Bondi beach.

Bearing in mind how scared I was once we found about the triplets and how I imagined I wouldn’t survive and my body wouldn’t cope, feeling this active and normal is certainly a great achievement for me. Part of me feels a bit shy to brag, but the other part is so proud on how I am coping with this all that perhaps I deserve a bit of credit? :)

People around me are more worried than I am with how much I am capable of...  my mother in law goes nuts if I try to wash the dishes or help in the kitchen... (she is adorable). I am sure I can do all these things.. Some pregnant woman have toddlers and life doesn’t stop, they have to do the supermarket run, carry weights, cook, clean, wash... all those things... For me, I do nothing; no one lets me do much... but hey, happy with that. I am sure there will be loads to do once the babies arrive.

In the meantime I use my energy for a greater good than housework (if you are lucky to be able to do that, why not?  :) Instead I am using to prepare my body for what is to come! Trying to live each week at a time and enjoy this good feeling... I am sure it can’t last forever, especially with triplets...

By the way, another amazing thing on the second trimester, by now is that you probably found out the sex of your baby - if you wanted to (we thought we had enough surprises for now).  So let me share with you :), by week 16th we found out the identicals are boys, and by 18th weeks we found out that the fraternal little one is also a boy! Me and my boy gang... Loving it! I will still be daddy’s little girl and will have 3 more to spoil me rotten ... YAY  :) (oh well, in a few years of course)
