Four reasons I regret finding out my unborn baby's gender

When I found out I was pregnant, one of the first things I researched was how quickly I could find out whether I was going to have a boy or a girl. I did every half-baked, old wives' test in the world to see what I was going to have. In the excitement of finding out my son's gender, I never stopped to think whether or not I actually should.

About nine years ago, one of my friends from uni had the first baby among our group of a dozen or so gal pals. Of course, many of us foresaw motherhood in our futures, so we were all very interested (these days we're lucky to get anything more than a "congrats!" text for each new arrival; I can barely keep track of all our offspring's names).
