William and Lily are currently in the lead when it comes to Aussie baby names.

William and Lily are in the top spots on the name list, but Aussie parents are using their imaginations, too.

William is continuing its reign as Australia’s most popular boys’ name, with Lilly (or Lily) taking the girls’ top spot, according to a new baby name study.

McCrindle Research has announced the most popular names of the moment, with information on a state-by-state basis as well as a look around the nation as a whole.

For the girls, imaginative spelling was seen in the names Hanah, Abbey, Charli, Makayla, Emilia and Tayla.

The influence of the popular Twilight book series was evident in the appearances of Isabella at number 6, Bella at 49, Jacob at number 13, and Edward at 63.

Celebrities are on-trend with their naming habits - or are making some names more popular - as many of their selections made it into the top 100. These included Danni Minogue’s son Ethan (#3), Tori Spelling’s son Liam (#12) and daughter Stella (#42), Michelle William’s daughter Matilda (#19), Matthew McConaughey’s son Levi (#28), Pink’s daughter Willow (#52), Victoria and David Beckham’s daughter Harper (#53), and Guy Sebastian’s son Hudson (#93).
