A whopping 1 in 7 parents said they regretted their child's name and 28 per cent had even told their child about it, UK researchers have shared.
And while 1 in 5 were put off it because it became too popular, almost 1 in 10 said they came to dislike it because a celebrity child was called the same name.
2000 parents were surveyed by UK site ChannelMum.com, which found celebrity and fame were major turnoffs for parents, who experienced worry, stress and regret over their child's name once it became associated with someone famous.
Channel Mum's baby names expert SJ Strum said while there's infinitely more choice when it comes to baby naming, that it also means a name has more likelihood of achieving notoriety.
"Celebrity trends mean there are an ever-growing list of baby names to choose from, but this also means more opportunities to choose a name which you, or your child, then learn to loathe," she said.
The names most disliked by the surveyed parents? Bear (chosen by Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole for their son), and Harper (Beckham).
Admittedly, the list is heavily populated by predominantly UK influences, which makes us wonder what an Australian survey would uncover when it comes to famous names and people's dislike of them.

2. Harper (David and Victoria Beckham)

Of course famous adults didn't escape the disdain of the survey participants, with the top ten most disliked names looking like this:

SJ Strum thinks that there's simply much more room for judgement when it comes to names shared with famous people.
"Picking your baby name is one of the most important parts of becoming a parent – and it's also something which everyone from friends and family to total strangers has an opinion on."
With every misstep made by celebrities heavily publicised in the media, it's little wonder parents are sticking with glamorous names from long-dead silver screen sirens who can't go on to cause trouble.
Names like Ava (Gardner), Audrey (Hepburn) and Grace (Kelly) continue to enjoy an allure for baby namers that Paris (Hilton) and Miley (Cyrus) are unlikely to achieve.
