Blue Ivy turns one
Show thumbnails
What's in a name? A lot, when you're Blue Ivy! Jay-Z's Blueprint album, released in 2001, has gone double platinum and won universal critical acclaim; Beyonce's favourite number is 4 - which in Roman numerals is IV. Then Beyonce posted a video of the couple holidaying in Croatia, in which she's standing by a tree and saying, "We woke up this morning and took a nice little walk and we passed by this beautiful blue tree. I think it's Blue Ivy, which would be quite appropriate."

![They do some of the dirty work themselves: "Actually, [Jay-Z] is very good. We both [change diapers]. I love changing diapers ... I love every moment of it, it's so beautiful. I love it all," Beyonce revealed on Anderson Live.](http://images.essentialbaby.com.au/2013/01/08/3937618/foot-80x80.jpg)

![They've got friends in very high places - the super couple are friends with President Obama and the First Lady, Michelle. In an interview with a US radio station, Obama revealed he'd given the new dad some advice: "I made sure that Jay-Z was helping Beyonce out [with the baby], and not leaving it all with mum and the mother-in-law." When Jay-Z later threw a fundraising party for Obama's re-election campaign, the president joked that he and the rapper shared a bond because "we both have daughters and our wives are more popular than we are".](http://images.essentialbaby.com.au/2013/01/08/3937765/obama-80x80.jpg)

![Behind it all, they're just a couple madly in love with their daughter. In May, Jay-Z said, "I thought I would be more inspired to have all these new feelings to [rap] about, but I really just want to hang out with my daughter. I want to enjoy this time for what it is."](http://images.essentialbaby.com.au/2013/01/08/3937619/jay-z-80x80.jpg)
