Stages of Pregnancy

Your pregnancy is generally about 40 weeks in length, calculated from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP) and is referred to in terms of three periods (trimesters) of foetal development.

Each trimester is approximately three months long and will feature certain milestones, though these can occur at different times for each pregnant woman. You will probably notice that your Health Practitioner refers to your pregnancy mostly in terms of the number of weeks since your last menstrual period.

Read on for information about the three trimesters or visit the Essential Discussion Groups to share your experiences of pregnancy.
