Ovulation Calculator

Ovulation is the development and release of an ovum (egg) from a woman's ovaries. It is the fertile period of a woman's menstrual cycle.  So if you are trying to fall pregnant you will need to understand when you are ovulating to ensure that you time intercourse in a "fertile period".  This ovulation calculator will help you to determine your most fertile period.

The Luteal Phase

The Luteal Phase is the time period beginning with the day after ovulation and running through the remainder of your menstrual cycle (ends the day before your next period). Typically, the duration of the luteal phase phase lasts between 10 and 16 days - and is generally consistent from cycle to cycle, averaging for most women at 14 days.

The luteal phase begins the day following ovulation. It lasts through the remainder of the menstrual cycle. In the Trying to Conceive (TTC) Community, the luteal phase is also referred to as "DPO" - or days past ovulation. At the onset of the luteal phase, women's body temperature increases (Basal Body Temperature) in order to provide a fertile environment for the ovum.

Length of Luteal Phase for the Ovulation Calculator

Most women have a luteal phase that lasts 10-16 days - averaging at 14 days. If you do not know your luteal phase, you may safely use the 14 day average as the default value for the purposes of ovulation calculation.

TIP! Our Ovulation Calculator provides approximate dates for predicting ovulation. There are several variables that can cause cycle irregularities. To ensure accuracy, ovulation calculator results should be used in conjunction with other predictive tools such as Basal Temperature Charts.
