Like mother, like daughter!

Serena Williams has shared an adorable snap to Instagram of her three-year-old daughter, Alexis Olympia, studying her as she trains on the court, preparing for the next round of the US Open.

Williams won her first match against Kristie Ahn, 7-5, 6-3, making it her 102nd win of the tournament and the player with the most wins at the US Open.

The tournament is being played with no one in attendance, adhering to social distancing requirements due to coronavirus.

"It's quiet, but it's such a big stadium and there's the screams and it's the atmosphere and it's a Grand Slam," Williams said in an on-court interview. "So, I'm still as passionate and intense out there."

Fans loved the picture of the toddler carefully watching what her mum is up to.

Serena has spoken openly about the challenges of parenting in the past and how much she appreciates her own father and coach, Richard.

In a previous interview for ESPN she revealed it's only after bringing her own daughter into the world, does she have a full perspective of the sacrifices her father and lifelong coach Richard made for her.

"My dad is amazing. I could never have done what he has done, not only with myself but with Venus," she said. "It's shocking and as a parent to do something every single day is very difficult - and I can't do something with my daughter every single day."

While playing in the Top Seed Open in Lexington, Kentucky last month she admitted her mind does wander to her daughter when she's playing occasionally, and her maternal instructs kicked in during the match when she heard Olympia coughing.

"She was eating grapes and then I'm like, 'Oh my gosh is she chewing? Make sure you chew," she told reporters. "And then I'm thinking, 'Okay Serena, stop looking over there.'"

"That's the new mum in me," she said. "It was good to see her, even briefly."
