There were rumours Kanye West and Kim Kardashian would keep with the 'K' theme and name their new daughter Kaidence or Klementine.
But, no. In an announcement posted on the official Facebook page for Kim's TV show, a source confirmed that the name on the birth certificate is North West, and that she will be known as 'Nori' for short.
The 32-year-old reality star gave birth to North West on June 15 in the $US3320-a-night maternity suite at the Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles.
Kardashian was reportedly suffering from pre-eclampsia and went into labor prematurely, delivering her daughter three weeks early. It was said to be a natural birth and the baby weighed "just under five pounds".
Mother and baby are said to be doing well and left the hospital on June 19 with 36-year-old Kanye West.
Kardashian's mother, Kris, spoke to Showbiz Tonight earlier this week.
"We are all good and extremely happy and thrilled for the new baby," she said. "[The baby] is doing great and beautiful. So very exciting."
Kardashian and West knew the sex of the baby before it was born, making the revelation on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
"I'm so excited we're having a girl," Kim said on the show. "Who doesn't want a girl? I think they are the best. I know that's really what Kanye has always wanted – he wanted a little girl."
North West is not Kim and Kanye's only new and exciting addition. The new family will soon move into their new $US11 million mansion in Bel Air. It is unknown whether their new home is north facing.
