The news was shared on People magazines Instagram page, where they captioned it "Jesse Tyler Ferguson is a dad!"

"The actor and his husband Justin Mikita have welcomed a "little bundle of joy" — Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita." the post continued. "The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three."

Despite the sweet the reason behind the name, one person commented: "What a stupid name seriously lol."

Their remark prompted Ferguson to hit back at the troll.

Replying '"If we can just all get along as one nation' -- you four Instagram posts ago. Sending love to you sir from us and Beckett."

Referring to a post that was seen on the troll's Instagram page that showed an image of former US president George W. Bush alongside former First Lady Michelle Obama and current First Lady Melania Trump.

Ferguson also posted a screenshot of the exchange to Twitter, alongside the caption: "Sometimes it's just fun to poke the trolls."

"The religious fanatics however are another story. They flock to social media like a moth to a flame when LGBTQ people get married or have children. I steer clear of them."

"It's not worth giving them the attention," the 44-year-old pointed out.

Miktia posted a photo of a onesie to Instagram on July 7 to announce the news, with the caption "It's Beckett, B---h!"
