She may have built her success on playing a perfectionist, but when it comes to motherhood, Glee star Lea Michele is finding there's no controlling how your body reacts to having a baby.
The actress welcomed her first baby, Ever Leo in August, and has since found her long tresses are quickly shredding thanks to the dreaded post-partum hair loss.
In an update on her Instagram story, the 34-year-old shared a photo of herself holding a handful of strands, captioning it: "The postpartum hair loss is REAL."
In a second photo Michele shows off her long hair, saying it was time for a style update.
"Enjoying this long hair while it lasts because the mom bob is right around the corner," she joked.
Hair loss among new mums is common - and normal, in the months after giving birth and is caused by a shift in hormones. Many women experience only a light shedding which generally settles down within the first six months.
Michele isn't the only celebrity to get real about the issue. Reality star Jamie Otis last year revealed her dramatic hair loss thanks to the condition, which had left her with thinned hair and a bald spot on her hairline.
Michele has kept her son, who she hares with husband Randy Reich, out of the spotlight, choosing to only post images where he face is not visible.
While she may be keeping mum on adjusting to motherhood, the actress turned author has described her son as 'the sunshine of my life'.
"Becoming a mother was the greatest blessing in the world yet this was an incredibly challenging year for so many people and every baby should be safe and cared for," she wrote in an Instagram post ahead of Christmas, detailing why the couple had forgone gifts in lieu of donating to charities helping vulnerable children.
