Jessica Simpson’s pregnancy must be one of the most talked-about pregnancies in the history of Hollywood. From the early bump-spotting to celebs counting down to the birth at the end, there's been no shortage of things to talk about when it comes to Jess and her unborn baby.

Although she officially announced her baby-on-board status at Halloween, bloggers were already abuzz with the news weeks beforehand, her growing bump giving her away early. Since then, she’s told us all about how she’s feeling, including details of her sex life with partner Eric Johnson, and has bared all for a naked photoshoot.

Even now, as her pregnancy nears its end, we’re learning more about the star and her pregnancy. Here’s a list of the latest Jess moments to tide us all over before she gives birth.

Her baby shower had a Charlotte’s Web theme
Held on March 18, the baby shower was attended by celebs including Jessica Alba and her daughter Haven, Ellen Pompeo, and Jessica’s sister Ashlee and her son Bronx. The guests reportedly snacked on Twinkies and Fried Oreos, favourite foods of the mum-to-be. Jess later posted a short video of the party on video-sharing site Vimeo.

The baby will be called Maxi
Jess told Elle magazine that the couple had chosen a "nontraditional" name for their daughter, but that it will be "nothing shocking and nothing you'll have to add to the dictionary."

A friend later revealed that the baby will be called Maxwell – Maxi for short. A large glowing ‘M’ on the wall at the baby shower suggests this may be correct. Maxwell is Eric’s middle name, as well as the maiden name of his grandmother.

Everyone’s wondering how much longer the pregnancy will last, including other celebs
Here at Essential Baby we’ve been waiting for the baby’s birth for a while now, and it seems we’re not the only ones. Some people have suggested the star has already given birth and is hiding until she’s ready to face the media, but Jess herself tweeted last week, “To everyone who keeps congratulating me on the birth of my baby girl… I’m still pregnant!! Don’t believe what you read ladies and gents.”

Now Katy Perry has added her voice to the conversation, tweeting, “Has Jessica Simpson had that baby yet?! I'm getting anxious.” Not yet Katy … not yet.

Her pregnancy weight has been discussed by everyone from Sarah Palin to Snooki
Jess’s weight seems to have always been a topic of public conversation, with even President Obama once commenting on a magazine cover that showed the star in an unflattering pair of jeans. The trend has continued now she’s pregnant, with several American TV hosts commenting on the star’s pregnancy weight gain. In addition, the newly pregnant Nicole Polizzi (aka Snooki), of MTV’s Jersey Shore, has said, “I would die if I were [Jess’s] size.”

But Jess has her defenders: Sarah Palin, politician and mum of five, said, "I would have wanted to punch [Jessica's critics] in the neck. It's none of anybody else's business how much weight I would gain." Tori Spelling, a mum of three with another on the way, agreed, saying, "When women are pregnant, people need to lay off. It's a really special time and you should be able to deal with it in your own terms."

Fashion still has a big place in her life
Jess has worn kaftans for much of her third trimester, and is even dreaming about them; in late April she tweeted: "I just woke up from a dream that I wore a leopard caftan in the hospital. Fabulous!! Now I need to find one!"

Flowing garments aside, there’s one thing she’s really missed wearing: high heels. Once joking that she would give birth in her favourite four-inch YSL heels, she eventually had to give them up in pregnancy. But it won’t be long before she’s back into them – she’s said, "I can't wait for the day I can walk in heels again! My feet feel homesick!”

So when will Jess give birth? We'll let you know as soon as we hear ...
