Almost a month to the day she gave birth to her first child, Jessica Simpson has shown off daughter Maxwell Drew Johnson on the cover of People magazine, in an exclusive magazine deal reportedly worth US$800,000.
The chubby-cheeked baby (born a healthy 4.45kg) is sound asleep in the cover shot, and Jessica says Maxwell has her Eric Johnson's calm demeanour.
In the accompanying interview, printed in People and its Australian stablemate Who magazine, Simpson reveals that she had a c-section delivery, and is now busy breastfeeding, which she calls "a full-on job."
Still, the star adds, "It's the worst if I have to pump and give Eric a bottle to give her. I miss holding her and having that closeness."
Simpson is besotted with her new daughter, saying, "From how I sleep to what I think about, Maxwell has definitely taken over everything. We stare at her all the time ... we can't get enough!"

“Eric said it best: when Maxwell was born, it felt like we were born again,” she says. “Seeing Eric with Maxwell is everything I’ve ever dreamed of: a daughter and the man of my dreams. It’s the most beautiful picture, and I’m in the best place.”
Simpson has also reportedly made a US$3 million deal to promote Weight Watchers while losing her baby weight. At the moment, though, she's happy to continue focussing on her baby.
“After you have a baby it’s like, ‘Oh my God, what happened to my body? This is not me!’” she says. “It would be nice to feel comfortable in a bikini, but that’s not my goal. I just want to fit into jeans.”
