Drew Barrymore might have remained out of the public eye while pregnant, but now that baby Olive is here she’s happy to share her happiness with the world, appearing on the cover of People magazine this week.
The pair are shown in profile, with the actress grinning and looking into her 10-week-old daughter’s eyes. In the accompanying article Barrymore says, “It's like the biggest crush I've ever had in my life!"
In the exclusive interview, Barrymore says she was nervous about becoming a mum, adding, "I couldn't eat or sleep for two weeks, I was just so nervous!”
"You have the highest highs and yet you're facing the biggest fear of, 'How do I keep someone alive?'”
The 37-year-old, who married Wil Kopelman three months before Olive’s birth, also spoke about life as a new family.
"I really wanted a wonderful traditional home for my kid," she says. "Will comes from a strong family, he provides a strong family ... It just makes me so emotional because it's like a miracle."
Barrymore also revealed that the couple love singing "Good Morning" from Singin' in the Rain to make their daughter smile.
Last week the new mum appeared on Ellen, where she shared how she and Kopelman chose their daughter’s name. She also spoke about why they chose to learn Olive’s gender before she was born.
“There were so many surprises to come,” Barrymore told host Ellen Degeneres.
“Every phase of her life I'll be trying to master … There are plenty of surprises.”
