Beyoncé just invented a new trend: the push party

Beyoncé, queen of the American music industry, had her baby shower on the weekend and the sumptuous African-themed shindig was all class. In typical Bey style, she single-handedly managed to re-conceive the the whole idea, dubbing the event, 'The Carter Push Party.' And just like that, we have a whole new trend.

It's drawn obviously from the concept of the 'push present,' a gift given to new mothers - usually by their partners - for the important and risky task of delivering new life. The key difference between a baby shower and a push party is that both men and women attend the latter, whereas it's traditional for only women to attend a baby shower. Baby showers are also usually only held for the first child. The push party is where anything goes; inclusive rather than exclusive.

Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z wore African clothing, with Bey adorning her full belly with an ornate henna tattoo. Three official photos of the event have been posted to to her Instagram account, two showing the glamorous couple in celebratory mode.

We'll be seeing push parties cropping up everywhere now Beyoncé has invented the concept, even if the guest lists are somewhat less star studded.

Beyoncé's mum Tina posted a few videos of the push party on her Instagram account showing superstar attendees, Serena Williams, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams and LaLa Anthony.
