Pop star and actress Natalie Bassingthwaighte has given birth to her first child - a baby girl named Harper Rain.

Weighing 3.22kg, the baby was born at a private hospital in Melbourne yesterday afternoon.

Natalie's publicist Mark Byrne said, “Cameron McGlinchey and Nat Bass are the proud parents of a little girl, Harper Rain Sinclair McGlinchey. Mum and bub are both doing well and are healthy."

The 34-year-old peformer and McGlinchey have been together for more than six years after meeting when Bassingthwaighte was the singer in electro-pop band Rogue Traders. The couple were engaged in July.

As reported in the Daily Telegraph, Natalie has admitted that she was surprised by how quickly she fell pregnant once planning to start a family.

"We made a decision in LA last year. We just didn't think it would happen this quickly," she said in February.

McGlinchey talked about the pregnancy in May: "For us, it was always about the time being right."

"Now the time is right. It's an opportunity to bring something good into the world."
