Singer and television personality Dannii Minogue has given birth to her first child - a boy named Ethan Edward Smith.
The 38-year-old star delivered the baby boy in Melbourne on Monday. Rumours suggest Minogue and partner Kris Smith had prepared for a home birth but required a last-minute hospital transfer.
A statement from Minogue’s management said: ‘‘Mother and baby are doing well and Dad is very proud.
‘‘They request their privacy at this special time to adjust as new parents.’’
Minogue, a judge on Australia's Got Talent and Britain's the X Factor, admitted she had not thought about having children until she met her partner, former England rugby player Kris Smith.
Aunt Kylie will be heading home later this month to meet her new nephew.
