Yes! - first one. I make sure DP comes, and I make him hold Lachlan when he gets his shots. After his initial scream, you can see the look on his face of, "why did you let that awful lady do that to me?" Then when they are done I can't grab my poor bubba fast enough to comfort him with some booby.
I'm so relieved now that we don't have to do that again for another 6 months.

First One, I take DH too and make him hold James. I figure then I'm not the big meanie. I don't like it but I've never cried (even with blood tests) and luckily he gets over it pretty quickly.

Well, tooth number 2 popped through a couple of days ago. All in all the cutting itself was a pretty painless (physically and mentally) experience which is good. He's pretty much by the book - bottom central incisors first. Swimming is going well - he loves it but it makes him very tired. 7 months on Monday - not too sure where the time has gone...

Mickey, - Good news re a relatively painless tooth eruptions. Lachlan has the same two.
Glad swimming is going well. Have you put your bubs head under yet, or does that come later? We missed term at the school that we wanted to go to, so we are practicing in our pool, but I don't want to put his head under until we go to classes. His kicking is going well though.

Well, over the last couple of days our day sleeps have improved a little. Hope they keep going in that direction. better go, buggerluggs is winging. It's bath time, and he has rusk bits from head to knee.

Apologies for being AWOL for awhile, motherhood is certainly the busiest job I've ever had!! Between mothers group/baby yoga and generally having coffee with friends/family the days just seem to go very quickly.


Caitlin is going really well (4 months tomorrow), however her reflux is still providing us with lots of challenges, particularly trying to settle her at night. I'm still feeding her every 3-4 hours even at night so that makes at least 4 months of sleep deprivation! I've learnt to live with it now and just try and nap when I can. I switched to bottle feeding to see if that helped but alas it has not provided any real improvments. We are going to try starting solids early to see if that helps and hopefully will get to go to a Tresillian hospital soon to guide us on settling techniques.


Hope all the other babies are going really well and that everyone is enjoying our little miracles.

CanberraKat, - It certainly is the busiest job ever. I'm sure everyone agrees, especially with how quiet it has been here. Sorry about Caitlan's reflux. Are you using special reflux formula that you can get on prescription? I hope solids can help her poor little tummy.

AFM, - Lachlan is doing much better with his sleep. He's having good naps twice a day now, for about 50mis to 1.5hrs each (usually). I'm not feeding him to sleep now. I'm able to take him off, then read him a few books, and put him in the cot awake, and then pat him to sleep while singing to him. All with no tears, in minimal time. The goal is to be able to put him in his cot awake and walk out, and I'm sure we will get there soon enough. He still has a few teething problems, I think the top ones are moving about now. After they are through I think we will have a break from teething for a while.
We weighed him yesterday, and at 7 months he is now 9.03kg, and 73cm long. I can hardly carry him anymore, - Where has my little bubba gone.
AF returned for me the other day, which starts a new chapter. We haven't any frosties and we're not going to do IVF again, but we are going to try naturally and see what happens. Probably nothing due to my age, but you never know.

Luci, gorgeous pic! Sounds like you've made some very positive progress on Lachlans sleeping too. I've been pretty fortunate with Taylor - she's been very content to be put down when tired and left to sort herself out to sleep. She's also happy to be plonked on a rug when out and she normally plays until she wants to sleep whereby she shoves a thumb in mouth and rolls over and falls asleep. She also wakes and lays quietly or chats to herself until I find her. Very lucky me. Although we still don't sleep through the night LOL.

AFM: Taylor is doing well. We've started a mums group now which is fun - lots of other bubs her age which is great. I can't believe how quickly she's growing though. She's such an independent miss - wants to be sitting all the time now, puts everything in her gob and is generally a smiley happy bub. I can certainly understand why people have more LOL. Not for us though - one is enough

I'm about to start introducing a formula feed (she's five months now) - going to stay BFing but want the flexibility of being able to offer a bottle. She's had a go on a bottle of EBM and did really well so am now back to expressing to get some freezer stocks. How did you guys choose a formula? There are so many *sigh*.

First One, - Firstly, Taylor is just beautiful.
And, - I give Lachlan a bottle every so often in the evening. Before 6 months of age he just had S26 gold, which was fine, and is handy for use when out, if you get some sachets, and/or long life tetra packs . After 6 months I switched to NAN HA Gold (follow on) to avoid any problems with constipation from S26 gold (2). It is much easier on the stomach because it is made from 100% whey. Having said that, I am giving him less and less formula now days, because he is now having 3 solid meals, and still about 6 BM feeds a day. So I am thinking of switching to the NAN Pro, because that comes in tetra bricks and has a 4 week (open) shelf life (for the tin) instead of 3, like the NAN HA has.

Luci, the list looks great - thanks for doing that. Wow, Lachlan is growing so well - must be all that good food he's getting. Love the pic - thanks for sharing. Glad to hear that his sleeps are going well. It certainly does make life easier. And good luck with the trying naturally - I really hope it does happen for you.

Kat, sorry to hear Caitlin's still having reflux issues. Hope things settle down soon but I am definitely for getting help with the reflux/sleeping if it's available. I took James to 'sleep school' and it certainly helped us.

First One, yay for a happy smiley baby! Great pics - what a gorgeous girl. Glad that your mothers group is going so well. Mine still gets together weekly - not all of us very often as a few of the girls are back at work but generally there's a few of us. We've started going to Lollipops Playland - wow, that's an interesting experience (I had a 2 year old try and flog my phone twice yesterday when I left it right beside me...). Re: formula, we just went with one they used in the hospital (S26 Gold) - apparently it can be a bit of trial and error to find one bub will take so we just stuck with it when James was fine on it.

Ards, congrats again hun on the birth of your beautiful baby boy Noah.

Lotusflower, Bree and anyone I've missed - hope those babies are growing well.

Well James is now 8 months. I have no idea where that time has gone. I have already starting planning his first birthday party. Yesterday he weighed 8.7kg and was 71.5cm. He still only 2 teeth and we can't tell if the top ones are going to come through soon. He gets grizzly every now and then which could be teething but we can't really see anything. Sleeping's going pretty well. I haven't rocked or fed him to sleep since sleep school but it can sometimes take him 45 minutes + to settle to sleep, even when I know he is tired. We are on solids 3 x a day and he's loving it. No longer breastfeeding (a joint decision I guess you could say with a bout of gastro tipping us over the edge) but he does have 4 bottles a day. He has been commando crawling for a few weeks but hasn't got the hang of proper crawling on all fours yet. I don't think it will be too far away. No words yet but he's definitely 'experimenting' with sound. I'm trying to 'encourage' him to say 'mum' but he just thinks it's hilarious when I sit there saying 'mum, mum, mum' so I don't know how we're going to go with that.

Otherwise all is good. We might be doing a FET next month if everything does to plan. Exciting and scary all at the same time.

Such a happy chappy - James is just too cute in your photo's. I'm guessing he is probably crawling properly now, and everything has gone to the next shelf up. I hear you on the 1st birthday party planning. I'm not quite planning it, but ideas have been getting thrown around. I'm glad James is sleeping better now.
Are you starting your FET preparations yet? Even if it's just mentally.
Thanks for the info. We decided to try tizzy's method before getting the sleep 'nanny' to help us. I hated the first night, and day 3. Lots of tears for both of us. DP had to do the bed time routine. It's been nearly a week now, and Lachlan is self settling rather well (so-far) . Go figure, - I got that book as a present while I was pregnant, but wanted to go for the no-cry methods instead. But that stopped working for us, and turned into crying in my arms.

Ards, - Hope you are enjoying all your new born cuddles. Wow nearly a month old already.

First One, - How is the formula going? It is easier when you're out and about. I noticed from around 5 months old, it was very hard to get him to focus on feeding instead of absolutely everything else when we weren't at home.

AFM, - AF showed up again for me. 29 day cycle at this stage. Still only going to try naturally, but it's hard to get motivated, as I'm sure it won't work. Probably a good thing I feel like this, because I'm putting no pressure on myself.

Better go. Want to get in a shower before the boss wakes.

How exciting that your morph scan is next week. I was so excited leading up to ours that I was basically wishing our holiday away, LOL. I hope the excellent results keep coming.
BTW, Even though the ring is being made at the moment, and the where and when (wedding) has been discussed in great detail. He still hasn't formally asked yet. - I hope it's just that he's waiting for the ring. I'd hate for it to be just taken for granted. I can't think of us as being engaged until he actually pops the proverbial.

Luci, oohh - sounds like congratulations are in order. Hope he pops the big question soon though it sounds like it can't be too far away. We did come through that storm okay. Lots of trees down in streets near us but we must be in just the right spot to miss most of the action. We live near the river and that has been up for a week or so but has started to go down in the last couple of days. Glad to hear Lachlan is starting to self-settle - it can be tricky sometimes but once they can do it then life does get a little easier.

Well, James is crawling properly now (about a week now) and it seems there is no stopping him. He loves to climb over me when I'm sitting on the floor which is fine except he hasn't learnt how to be nice about it (ie. no pinching!). Sleeping is still going well though occasionally he'll throw a 4am wake up in there (like this morning) and it certainly is a shock to the system. 9 months next week - where has the time gone??? We are planning a FET soon. If everything goes to plan then maybe next cycle in April. Depends on if my body plays the game or not though it seems to be behaving itself so far.

hey Ladies

Sorry long time no speak but I was induced at 36 weeks (only 2 days on mat. leave) so it was very sudden and I didn't get much done. As you can see by my sig I had a beautiful little boy Noah by CS (birth story & pics on my blog).

Like most babies he is not a fan of settling so sleep is at an all time low. Apart from that we are doing well, few bumps but nothing to whinge about.

Lucina - Love the pics!!! I wish you so much luck for TTC getting on the train again is hard, take it easy xxx

Ards....massive congratulations!!! He looks just beautiful and I adore his name! I hope you are both doing well. Sleep will come as he settles into a routine and you will adjust to a lack of it LOL! I was a stanch 10hr a night person and suprised myself by managing pretty darn well through the early days. Just remember to ask for help if you need it - an extra hours nap during the day can make the world of difference!

Mickey, I'm so excited for you starting another cycle! My everything is crossed for you. As much as I'd love to go again, I'm pretty content with our one gorgeous girl. Yay on the crawling too. I can't believe it's been nine months! Taylor is 6 mths soon and I am amazed at where that his disappeared to?!

Luci, good luck for the big Q! How lovely Hope Lachlan is doing well? He'll be walking down the aisle with you as a paige boy by then?

AFM: Taylor is doing really well. She's a very happy smiley bub so we are lucky. She has also started sleeping 7-8hrs through the night which is lovely but she still wakes at 6am on the dot and no amount of boob can convince her to go back to bed LOL.

She's also found a new trick - she's up on her hands and knees now and getting stronger at that at an alarming rate! She's already impossible to keep in one place - she just rolls everywhere so to have her so close to crawling is a worry!!! Time to start baby-proofing the house even more thoroughly!

I don't pop in here very often but glad I did & thanks for the invite ! I wasn't sure if it was a thread for baby's already born only but seems not, in fact I don't even know what RSGG is but it doesn't really matter !!

It seems like a great place to be now that I'm beginning to ask myself/friends/doc some of the questions about what to do when baby actually arrives ! Never really thought I'd get to that point but seems it's getting closer.

Anyway, it's nice to be amongst 'old' friends - I will need to take a look back to see how your little cherubs are faring and post with personals again soon.

AFM, scan went great, as I've said elsewhere, all is growing nicely, with ten little fingers, ten little toes & one little ..... willy ! It's a little boy for us ! Somehow the morph scan has made it so much more real & I have finally started having movement as my placenta is anterior so cushioned me for a while. The sweetest gentle little pushes and jabs ....

All is going as well as we'd hoped except that over the weekend I suddenly got a pinched nerve, or sciatica, not entirely sure. OB classified it more generally as a back issue, but told me to rest for two days as he's seen some terrible cases. I was going quite well with personal training once a week, prenatal yoga etc. but bammo! It just hit me after yoga on Saturday. Anyway, hopefully with some pain management it will come good.

So glad your morph scan went well, that is when I started to relax and really enjoy my pregnancy. I hope it's the same for you. And congrats on your little willy, he he... My Ob used to point out Lachlans 'junk' every visit. Almost as if it was the first time we'd seen it each time. It was good though - It made me giggle.

Sorry about the pinched nerve. I hope it frees up soon. Take all the prescribed rest, and more, you will appreciate it.

Liltuss, so glad you're ducking in here Massive congrats on having a boy too! The morph scan does certainly make it more real - seeing a little person and knowing the sex start to really click in your head that you're having a baby! I still look at Taylor and think wow!

Certainly go ahead and ask anything - it's amazing how fast you learn when bubs is actually here but being a little prepared makes it easier!

AFM: Crusing along...Taylor is very easy to have around - waaaaay too much time wasting with her though - her smiles and laughs and giggles are just too gorgeous so not alot of work gets done! But I don't care! She's amazing!

She has got her legs working for crawling but can't quite keep up with her arms yet although she's not far off. She's also figured out sitting up by herself now - that's taken a while to sort out the side to side balance!

She's also taken to her solids like a duck to water - LOVES pumpkin and pears, carrots and apples coming second... If anyone has any thoughts on convincing her to shut up though while eating.... I think she just likes to tell us how much she's enjoying it!

Anyway, best go, it's my time now She's in bed for the night and I can hear a book calling to me while DH makes dinner....ahhhhh, bliss!

Will be back later for a proper reply - stuffed right now as James woke at 3.20am and after 40 mins of trying to settle him in the cot realised his nappy had come undone and his sleeping bag was soaked. Poor little bugger. So a bottle then back to bed but of course by then I couldn't sleep. Arrgghh!

Miss M is now almost 6 months old I wish time would stand still sometimes.
We are just starting to gets some signs of teeth with a few unsettles days/nights etc.
She is lots of fun though and very good, making things easy for me.

Sounds like all your beautiful bubbas are doing well and growing so fast!

Lotusflower, - The dreaded teeth , - Ah, but they are so cute when they smile with a couple of little teeth. Glad that Miss M is being so divine! LOL - hmmm, - bad joke

Mickey, - Ah, you poor things, don't you hate it when you say to your bub, "it's O.K, you can go back to sleep now", and he's basically yelling back to you, "No it's not, I'm soaked!" or whatever. Argh - when you finally realise ...
It doesn't sound like a night feed isn't the norm for James anymore. I can't seem to drop his night feed yet, he gets genuinely hungry most nights. But that's o.k. I guess, now that he feeds, changed, and back to sleep within 30-40mins.

FirstOne, - No thoughts on getting her to be quiet while she's eating. It sounds cute though! Pear is Lachlans very favourite too.

Liltuss, - Hope your back is feeling better. How are the kicks going, - Getting Stronger? Did your OB say that your placenta might move around, or is it more likely to stay put?

Ards, - Hope you both are really well. I'll check your blog when I'm done here, to see if there are any updates.

Liltuss, I can't believe you're 22 weeks already. You'll be third trimester before you know it. Hope everything is going well.

Luci, I hear you on the first birthday thing. Our first mums group one is early mid-May and then the rush is on for a couple of months. I think James will be third last in the group. Hope Lachlan is going well.

Lotus, they grow up so quickly, don't they? Hope the teething goes smoothly for you. James' first two were the worst. Others since then have been easier.

First One, they certainly are big time wasters. I could spend all day just playing with James. Glad to hear Taylor has taken to solids well. No suggestions for the keeping her quiet while eating. I agree, she's probably just enjoying it so much.

Well, 9 months now. My little boy is growing up . He was 9.6kg and 73cms at his 9 month check last week. A huge jump in his weight especially (from about 10th percentile at 6 months to over 50th at 9 months). He has 6 teeth now (2 on the bottom, 4 on top) and can pull himself to standing on the furniture (or the baby gate, or me, anything really). Problem is he still working on getting back down without hurting or scaring himself so I'm having to watch him pretty closely and can't leave him alone for too long. It's almost like having a newborn again! Feeding is going great, sleeping pretty good - usually wakes between 4 and 5am, has a bottle then back to bed for an hour or two. He is very cheeky and certainly has a stubborn streak (DH and I argue over who he gets it from - which probably says enough, lol).

Anyway, will get going for now. Will check back in again soon.

Hello former RSGGers! I popped in here when I first got my BFP but thought it was for RSGGs with babies already

Thought I'd just say hi and it's great to see some familiar names. Will take me a while to read back through the posts but hope everyone is doing well.

I am now almost 31 weeks' pg, I haven't really spent a lot of time on any of the forums in here but now that the birth is getting closer I'd really love the support and distraction that I'm sure you girls can give! Going through AC is something many people don't understand so knowing you've all been in the same boat is calming and encouraging

All is going well for me, which is obviously a relief after IVF - after 6 weeks of morning sickness I've had a pretty uneventful pregnancy and hoping the birth will be the same! Liltuss - congrats on your little boy, we are having a little boy too! Or so the "mooning" shot he lovingly gave us at the morph scan showed

I will write more when I've had a chance to get a handle on where everyone is at, and hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Just thought I'd pop in and say hello. No news really - busy planning James' first birthday party (eBay is my friend - though DH is a bit worried about all the Paypal receipts that keep turning up in his email ).

Hoping James will get out of his latest phase/habit soon - one of the downsides to learning how to stand is that now it is the most fun thing to do when you are supposed to be having a sleep. And because he hasn't yet learnt how to get down properly all the time he usually sooks until I rescue him. So we've been playing enter room, lie him down, say 'sleepy time James', leave room, repeat for about a week now. Oh, and while he's standing in the cot it is apparently also fun to gnaw on the top rail. So pleased we didn't buy a really expensive cot because if we did I'd be having kittens over the teeth marks in it , lol.

Mickey, - How is the party planning going? I have no Idea what I'm going to do for the kids for Lachlan's 1st. A 'simple' BBQ is a given for the adults though.

I'd love to get a jumping castle for them but I'm not sure if they would still be too young. I looked to hire one, and it was $120 for 2 hours and 160 for 4 I saw this website and thought it would be good to buy one. But again, - Not sure if they'd be too young, however they like the inflatable at the local play gym.

Sorry - just realised I didn't reply to your text. Think I will make the fudge a couple of days before the parrty and it should be all good. My last batch was eaten in a few days so I wasn't sure how long it would last.

Party planning is going well. I've impressed myself with how organised I'm being. Invites have just gone out. We are having afternoon tea with lots of yummy sweet stuff. We considered a BBQ but I figured afternoon tea was a little easier in some respects. I can make most stuff a few days beforehand and then just do the last minute stuff on the day (and being in the afternoon means I should have a bit of time on the day to get organised). It is a giraffe theme so I already have giraffe cupcake toppers, an inflatable giraffe centrepiece and instructions for making a fondant giraffe topper for the cake. I have a giraffe stamp on the way so I can giraffe-up some napkins and plates. Trying to do as much as I can myself to keep costs down.

I love the idea of a jumping castle but might do that in a year or two. I think this year the adults would get more out of it than the kids would, lol.

Anyway, better head off to bed - James woke me at 3.30am this morning. Grrrr!! I'm hoping he gets out of that real fast .

Liltuss, how are you going? You must be getting close too! It's so exciting to have some more new mums in the group - you can remind us what newborns are like - LOL, I seem to have almost forgotten! It just seems like so long ago but then again it seems like yesterday!

AFM: Well, Taylor continues to delight. We've got two bottom teeth now - both decided to come through together. She graciously decided the best way to get through teething was to sleep through it all so that was lovely for us! She was up to sleeping 10.5 hours through the night - she normally does about 8hrs to 2am then another 3 or 4 hours after that so it was novel getting right through to 4 or 5am! Boobs were killing me though as usual LOL - can't catch a break!

I wanted to ask everyone though, what do you guys do for breakfasts? She's onto solids really well but I still tend to give her rice cereal in the mornings with fruit. I'd like to get her off the rice cereal as expressing is a pain but I just can't bring myself to give her formula! Dinners are easy with veges and fruit desserts but breakfasts..... Thoughts?

Anyway, got to run!

Mickey, - Afternoon tea sounds really nice for your party. Sounds like you have everything sorted. I'm sure you all are going to have lots of fun. Can't wait to see some photos, especially of your fondant giraffe topper on the cake. I can't really picture it.

First One, - I can relate to your boob problem once the sleep gets long. I had to get up and express otherwise I couldn't go back to sleep. But they've adjusted now.
Re your question. Lachlan is getting oatmeal for breakfast most mornings. I just blitz uncle toby's traditional oats, and cook for ten mins in 4 x water to oats, and with a shake of cinnamon. Then I mix it with some fruit, e.g. maybe mashed banana and pureed prune. And sometimes some yogurt. (It freezes well so I make enough for 5 or 6 meals. You just have to add a bit more water when defrosting.) Second course is a serve of pear. Going to try weetbix, and wholemeal toast solders soon.

Quick one to answer First One's question - James has Greek yoghurt mixed with mashed banana (or other fruit, but usually banana - lol) for breakfast. He also has wholemeal toast soldiers with either cream cheese, avocado or Vegemite. He was having Weetbix for a while but to be honest I think he found it a bit boring. Plus the soldiers are better for hand-eye coordination too (I try to avoid totally spoon fed meals these days because he loves feeding himself).

Eta, assuming there are no issues that you know of (eg. allergies) it should be fine to give her cow's milk with cereal. It is okay with food from 6 months, just not as a drink in its own. James always had cow's milk with his Weetbix and was fine.

Mickey, I didn't realise cows milk was OK this early. Might look into that. Haven't started her on yoghurt yet but might think about that too.

Luci, oats in water sounds good too - we often have porridge ourselves these days in this cold weather. She's very much into bananas atm so could add nanas too....


We're not quite onto toast/solids that require chewing just yet although she eyes off my beans on toast whenever I have them LOL.

Hi girls,

Our mothers day was fine, thanks girls. I'm still eating the chocolates. Although my little man has been sick for a few days with a fever and sore throat so wasn't able to get him to eat much, but we spent all day giving him lots of get well cuddles. He's allot better now, but still has a pretty raw throat.

We've been pretty busy, as you all are. As of next weekend the visitors will be arriving. Not really sure how to co-ordinate activities with nap times. We haven't even been away since we had bub, so we haven't had to try. Any advise anyone?

Anyway got to get the little mans dinner ready (after his dose of panadol) We'll see how we go tonight.

How sad is this, - I'm dog tired but am resisting going to bed because I don't want my me time to end. I feel like I'm doing the proverbial "cutting off of the nose" thing. Does anyone else get like that sometimes?

Oh, Lachlan was 10 months old yesterday. He's getting close to the end of that train. Before you know it we'll be needing a new ticker. I must post a 10 month old photo in the next few days.

I know it's a bit quiet in here but hoping you might be popping in to check now and then....

I am 30 weeks today - all going ok although we have gestational diabetes. However it seems to be controlled at the moment just by diet so hopefully won't need insulin. OB thinks we may be heading down the CS path as a result of age/GD & possibly biggish bub, but will know more after 32 week scan.

In the meantime, it's full steam ahead with getting organised - so a question for everyone - WHICH BLOODY PRAM SHOULD I GET ??? I am so confused .... I want a 4 wheeler, not too heavy, reversible and a few other things on the list but just can't decided !! Any input appreciated.

Hi Liltuss! Can't believe you're 30weeks already! I'm so excited for you! Aside from the pram, are you feeling ready (or as ready as you can ever be!)? Pram wise, mine fits all but one requirement - weight. I have a Strider Plus 4 wheeler. It's a fabulous pram - I love it but it is heavy. The weight was no issue for us as we find it is more stable off road in the paddocks than a lighter pram. I wanted a pram that was stable, had puncture proof tyres, 4 wheels, a big basket, big sun canopy, reversible seat, bassinet attachment and adjustable height handles - this fulfilled everything for us. It's a tough choice prams - you never know what you're going to like until you start using it alot. Go to a store and push everything around for a while!

AFM: Every thing is going really well with us. Taylor is doing great - busy standing these days. She's pulling herself up on everything so I'm madly removing all objects below 70cm in height in the house LOL. She's eating us out of house and home - she's quite the little vege/fruit monster! She's still super smiley and happy although I should be touching wood as she's a little grumpy today! We also have a hilarious little pelvic thrust thing happening - she lies on her back with her knees up and bounces her bottom on the ground - soooo funny (except when trying to change her nappy!). She's now 8 months, 7kg and 67cm

Oh, best go, she's just having a grizzly attack LOL!

PS. When is everyone going back to work? I start ASAP but managed to convince work to let me work from home - YAY!

First One, - glad to hear Taylor is doing so well. No wonder mums start growing eyes at the back of their heads. I always wondered why mum was all seeing and hearing - "I trained her early".

I get 2 years off, which I'm taking. So I go back July next year. But I'd go back earlier if I could work from home. I can imagine how happy you are. That is fantastic.
