Cassi I am still waiting for my bub to decide to make it's arrival, tommorrow is my due date, so could be here a while yet........ this is baby number 4 - so had thought I would be holding them by now, but as they say each one is different.

congrats to all , so exciting to come and see all the news of new bubs and how wonderfully you all seem to be doing!
cassi8
tthumbs.gif I'm not alone then biggrin.gif My due date is Friday.
nlman
Congrats Lovethesun! Hugo is such a great name!
starangel_79
Girls, just sticking my head in to see how you are all going. I am mainly on facebook at the moment, and just checking the group when I am feeding Miss Alexis.

Fingers crossed for all of you who are yet to meet your little ones that it happens soon for you.
anneekins
cassi8 I'm still here (though not posting much!) Not due until next Wednesday! A whole week and not particularly in a hurry. Been cleaning and dealing with a sick child for a few days and taking care of last minute shopping. Now, hope DS takes a nap tomorrow and I can have some down time!!!!
greenthumbs
Goodmorning all!

I pop out for a few days and look what happens happy.gif

Congratulations to newmum99 and chloe, pa82 and erika, aliyah's mum and tyra, lovethesun and hugo!

Hope things are going well for those still waiting - cassi8, aussieazsx, anneekins....

Well.....

Henry Quinn joined us on Mon 23/8/11 at 5.23pm after 15 or so hours of labour. He came in at 3.132 kg (just under 7 pound). He is feeding well, although we are having some issues with cracks, but will re-read all advice seen in earlier posts and get that sorted. Milk is yet to come in and feeling a little nervous about that huh.gif

It feels as though we had two labours. Labour started unexpectedly, but in a nice calm fashion on Monday at 2am. No show, plug, anything. Just light cramps in the days leading up and then laying in bed with insomnia, felt my first long 'contracting' period pain which went for maybe 30 secs or so. I had a second and got up. Woke DP 1.5hrs later, laboured at home in bath, shower and with my new BFF tens machine until about 8am when I was worried about the traffic on way to hosp and hot water running out at home. We headed to hospital with contractions about 3mins apart and going for a minute or so. We went on monitor and all was great. Had a VE a little later and the mw was very surprised as we were already at 8cm! So thrilled, as I was just hoping they wouldn't send us home. Went into delivery suite and continued with things. Didn't even open labour bag except to get new battery for tens and a water bottle - haha all that planning. Didn't go back in water, even though it worked beautifully at home, I was not letting go of my new BFF!

We all thought we'd be done by lunch, so it was frustrating to continue all day. We tried pushing a little, but nothing going. We did eventually get fully dilated and waited until my body insisted on pushing which started around 3.30 I think. I pushed for 1.5hours with bugger all progress, my poor vagina and bottom (laurenelissa, I now know what you mean by baboon butt sad.gif ).

An ob came in and gave me some delightful VE's during contractions and then did a scan to discover Henry had decided to get himself a little crooked. This is when it seems my first labour ended. We then after many tears from me and reassurance from everyone else decided to head to theatre. The plan was to try an instrumental delivery with the assumption that we would probably need a caesar. Then all went rushed, gowns on, DP and me freaking out a little, the bed being wheeled through hosp etc.

It was upsetting to say the least that I was not able to finish as naturally as we had begun, but Henry is here after a spinal block and forceps delivery (yay no caesar! and that spinal block taking affect is my second best BFF happy.gif ). We are all well and home after 24hours. Doesn't feel completely real yet, except when he's on the breast.

Henry has a beautiful habit already of finishing up feeding and liking to lay there with his cheek on my boozie, nipple just out of his mouth and hand laying over nipple wub.gif . I will try and figure out later how to add a piccie here as it's my favourite.

Good luck everyone and will check later for further updates on those induced yesterday. Henry is starting to grizzle so best be off.

cassi8
wub.gif congrats greenthumbs! I had though you must have given birth. Your story sounds much like my first although I had an epi much earlier than that and he was delivered forceps in theater as he was posterior. I remember all that rushing around prepping me for a cesar and having to sign the waivers mid-contraction. Enjoy your beautiful boy! original.gif

sign the waivers mid-contraction.

Exactly - this was so surreal. I remember signature being all shaky. I really wanted to write "get stuffed" as the ob's bedside manner left a heck of a lot to be desired, but the nurses and midwives were so amazing!

Congratulations greenthumbs on the arrival of you little boy Henry.

I'm now 2 days overdue and there is no sign of any movement. Just waiting, waiting, waiting!!!
cassi8
laughing2.gif greenthumbs. I remember thinking "Are you kidding?!" He was a good Ob (fill-in) though and if this baby stays much longer he will be delivering it as well and the past 40 weeks with my Ob will have been pointless! (on holidays from mid next week) rolleyes.gif Good thing the fill-in is a nice Ob.

3 of us left. I am soo bored.. better go clean or wash something.

Hi all,

Just a quick update. Hugo Louis arrived at 1:40pm yesterday weighing a VERY healthy 4.5kg (9lb 15). I was induced at 4:30am and contractions started by about 5am. OB came in to break my waters at about 7am and as he did our little monkey decided to put his arm on top of his head. Lots of very uncomfortable internals during contractions couldn't persuade him to move it so we decided to continue on naturally and see what happened. I laboured naturally until about 11am and was still handling things really well when they told me I was 8cm (yay!) Things really picked up for the next hour or so and another internal revealed that I wasn't progressing at all. The ob said that if there was no progression I would need a c-section as baby's heart rate was starting to drop a bit during contractions. He said he would prep the theatre and if I had dilated by then he was happy for me to birth naturally as DS1 was a big baby born naturally with his hand next to his head. As he finished saying this poor little Hugo started to go into distress and his heart rate started to drop dramatically so in a flash I was in theatre with a spinal being inserted and he was whipped out in about five minutes. It all happened so quickly but the best result was achieved being that our little boy is super healthy and so is his mum. I am feeling a little sore now but Hugo is feeding so well and DH and I are enjoying the stay in hospital with only one sleepy baby! It seemed surreal sitting there having a quiet cup of tea this morning and reading the paper with a baby asleep on my shoulder. DS has been to visit twice and loves his 'brubba' but is such a whirlwind in comparison. It is so funny how quickly they change (they are still wonderful at the toddler age - so funny)! I am missing DS terribly though so am hoping to head home tomorrow or saturday and start our time together as a little family.

Even though my labour ended in an emergency c-section I feel it was such a positive experience compared to the first time around and I felt so much more in control. I think this birth experience finally expelled the fears that I had harboured since having Teddy.

Good luck to all of you still waiting to go. Wishing you all lots of delicious newborn cuddles soon.

Courtney
cassi8
wub.gif Congrats Courtney. enjoy those little cuddles and I hope DS is a good big brother. original.gif
greenthumbs
Congratulations to courtney-b and hugo!
aussieazsx
Congrats green thumbs and Courtney.

I spent my day up at the hospital being monitored after going for my routine 40 week midwife appointment where my blood pressure was apparently high. In good news all seems to be OK and they let me home.in bad new I have another appointment for Tuesday, where the midwife will do a ss and set an induction date.....

So definitely still waiting with you Cassie
cassi8
Just thought I would add, going to be here for a few more days, Ob said not even dilating yet but I am hoping the internal will get things going. Due date today but back to waiting!
greenthumbs
Hi Cassi8

Hope you are still feeling relatively patient, you sound good original.gif

We're getting along ok I think, funnily enough I felt good this morning, but the midwife who dropped in kept going on about if I wasn't feeling confident blah blah blah.
She was trying to be helpful I guess but it makes me think "should I not be confident for some reason?" I'm also on day 4 so could be a little sensitive happy.gif

We are having some attachment issues which we are hopefully working on. I've got the positioning better, but unfortunately because I already have cracks, it's hard to tell if the pain is what is already there or still bad attachment sad.gif We'll get there I suppose, I hope everyone is having plenty of success.

Henry is so wonderful! DP hates when he gets upset as it's so hard to tell what's wrong, but he really is a fairly content little man at the moment.

Hi to everyone and hope you are all well with your little ones or not far off holding them.

PS. How long til the stitches dissolve and stop hurting?
cassi8
I found about a 4 or 5 days and the stiches started to ease up, I think they dissolve in about 10-14 days but I could be wrong. I'm not feeling very patient but I have to be. I am on edge waiting for something to happen and DH has just been snowed under at work so not sure if I want it to come now or let DH catch up so he can enjoy his time off.
aussieazsx
hey Cassie, are you still waiting with me or did the internal do the job?

Very tired today, hoping baby decides it wants out soon.
cassi8
I am still waiting Aussieazsx, been out to take DS swimming and shopping this morning and I am aching now. I had more to do but DH and I are both short tempered DS is being a rascal and I am hurting too much to walk any further.

Me too - bad grazes. But I've found adjusting the position, rubbing milk on them after each feed and then using lanolin nipple cream (just on the actual graze itself) has really healed them up quick. Still have some issues but not nearly as bad.

A midwife at my hospital said the stitches dissolve in 21 days, same as internal stitches.

Hope everyone is going really well with their little ones/remaining days of pregnancy. Chloe is delightful, but I really can barely stand to leave her alone in the bedroom to sleep. She is a VERY quiet sleeper and it freaks me out! Tips?

(ETA - I have a monitor but she's so quiet it barely ever comes on!)
greenthumbs
Thanks newmum

Have been doing the milk rub and letting them dry which definitely helps - but I keep forgetting the lanolin, will get on top of that.

Henry is a quiet one as well. We both check on him fairly regularly, but I must admit that I usually just let him sleep on the couch next to me or otherwise I'm napping on the bed next to his bassinette so, sorry, I don't really have any advice.

Dropped DP off at the train station for his night out 'wetting the babies head' a couple of hours ago (my first few hours alone unsure.gif ) and Henry did not like getting in the car! He screamed it down for the first part of the trip and then half way to station he just stopped. It took everything in me to not pull over and check him. We got to station and I heard a little sigh, so was ok, but he was quiet all the way home, which is what you'd want, but it is so worrying isn't it newmum? I guess it's just something we'll get used to?

Well, I've hours to fill tonight. It feels strange with just Henry and I in the house. DP did go out yesterday for a few hours to do the medicare thing and get some groceries etc, but I knew he was only ever 5-10 mins away and we actually just slept. But tonight he's out with the boys and is over half hour taxi drive away. I know he won't have a late night as he was already nervous about leaving me here (especially after I got a bit weepy yesterday), but it just feels weird. I'm a little worried as he was having some back and other funny aches today - we think it's stress related (he is not the type to easily stress). I'm not sure what to do. I asked if he perhaps needed to 'debrief' about the labour and birth, to which he just laughed, but it was an intense day and I think it would be good for him but not sure who he could talk to. Perhaps tonight will be a good de-stresser for him and some of the other boys who are dads will be good to him.

Hope everyone is well, best be off, Henry is starting to fuss, gotta whip out the jugs again happy.gif
cassi8
I am sure you will be fine Greenthumbs, the first few times alone are pretty daunting and I am going to go through the same coping with 2.

You guys will get into a routine as you learn babies habits and things and just as you think you have it figured out they will change it on you Tounge1.gif Its normal to worry and stress. Newmum, you can always have a rocker/bouncer/bassinet or similar in the lounge where you can see and hear bub easier.
aussieazsx
Hey Cassie, just wondering if you are still waiting with me? I spent this afternoon at the hospital being monitored. Dr is wanting to induce me in the morning, the midwives are not keen on me having my membranes ruptures, as the baby is not engaged.however if my blood pressure is high, I am a bit worried they will try and push me for a section.

I best stop worrying about tommorrow and finish packing for tommorrow.

Hey aussieazsx hope it all goes well tomorrow and you're able to get some sleep and relax tonight original.gif
cassi8
I am still here aussie and totally over it. The only thing that got me out of bed was DH going to work so I have to look after DS. ddown.gif Stand your ground and don't let them do anything you don't want. I have another appt tomorrow. My Ob is on leave now so will get to meet the other guy outside of the labour ward. I am hoping I won't make the appt though.
greenthumbs
Hi Cassi8

How're you doing? How did your ob appt go today? I hope your DS is being good for you original.gif

Is there anyone else still playing the waiting game?
cassi8
Got to meet the fill-in Ob today, he is quite nice. I have CTGs every other day starting tomorrow and induction has been booked so an end is in sight. Looking like I am going to have another Sept baby though. sad.gif

Am I the last one now?? unsure.gif

Hey guys, Tobias Nelson was born on Monday 29th at 3.28am, natural I never made it to my induction. He was 4115g, 56 cm long and head circumference of 35cm. We are home and doing well, although I am a little short tempered with the other children.
cassi8
ddown.gif yep, last one.. I'm not sharing the date but its not this week. hands.gif for tomorrow!

Congrats aussie on the birth of Tobias.

I am still waiting.. rolleyes.gif
Bex_star
Hey all!

Sorry I have been MIA, but I had a baby! blush.gif

Last Monday I went to the Ob who told me that my cervix wasnt favourable for an induction (which had been booked for the Wednesday) and that I had a few options. Mostly they lead to me having a C-Section anyway, so DH and I made the decision to book a CS for the next morning!

So Tuesday morning rocks around and 8:30am I am wheeled into theatre and 8:40am I give birth to little Harrison Edwin Daly! He was 7lbs 14oz and the Ob said that he was never going to descend for birth as he had the cord wrapped around his belly and shoulders! Little bugger was happy in my belly biggrin.gif

I came home from hospital on Saturday and so far, DH and I are finding our feet with it all. He is so cute and tiny and helpless and at times its so scary. Not sleeping is routine and I just want to hug him all the time.

Sorry no personals, I will get back on tomorrow and do some back reading.

I hope everyone is doing well!

Good luck Cass!!!

CONGRATS Bec! Welcome to Harrison original.gif

Sounds like it went very smoothly and glad you're home enjoying your little one.
Dinosaurus
Congrats ladies - Bex I love Harrison but DH wouldn't hear of it original.gif

Cassie - unless something happened by midnight I can't believe there's only one September baby in this whole group! Amazing. I am still reading along when I can but usually on the phone while multi-tasking which is hard to reply on original.gif

Be waiting Cassie laughing2.gif as I'm sure you are!
cassi8
Still waiting. sad.gif DSs birthday is only a week away now, I was really hoping that it would at worst arrive a few days late.
nic188
Congratulations Bex and all the other ladies and new bubs i have missed.

Good luck Cassi, hope bub decides to come soon. I'm another one who can't believe we will only have 1 Sept bub.
