Hi ladies,

Anyone know exactly how to make fruit jelly for bubs?

I have the fruit juice (unsweetened apple) and the gelatin, but how much of each do I need? I Googled it and get American recipes saying "two packets of gelatin" etc - um, how big are the packets? What? Huh?

TIA,

Rover

This is the woman's weekly one - I make it all the time for Caelan & he loves it.

2 cups (500ml) fruit juice (I use whatever we have - last time was Cranberry & raspberry juice)
3 teaspoons powdered gelatin.

Place 1/4 cup of the juice in a cup; sprinkle gelatine over juice. Stand cup in a small pan of simmering water, stir until gelatine is dissolved. Stir gelatine mixture into remaining juice in medium bowl; refrigerate until firm.

I find that this makes about 3 serves - I set them separately rather than in one bowl.

Good tip is to make sure that the gelatine has fully dissolved, otherwise it sinks to the bottom of your gelatine.

Good luck!!!

Cheers!

The method I use is a bit of a 'short cut' to Georgie's recipe

I make mine in a 500ml jug and-

* pour in 150mls boiling water and stir in 2 teaspoons gelatine powder till dissolved

* top up to 500mls with juice of choice

pour into desired container/s and chill. DONE original.gif

Costs out (depending on juice you use) to around 35 cents per 100ml original.gif

take care...
