Hi all,

We went away for our first camping trip over Xmas/New Years to Kalbarri and DS and I now have the camping bug and are itching to get away again.

Can anyone recommend a good place to go camping that within a day's driving of Perth and close to the beach and kid friendly? I'd love to explore towns up North but am happy to hear suggestions for down south too.

TIA
Morts!
Guilderton Caravan Park is one of the best. Only an hour or so north of Perth, right on the mouth of the Moore Rive and very kid friendly. It's very popular though so you need to book well in advance.

If you google them you'll find their website.

I second Guilderton, just avoid school hols etc, it gets packed but a fantastic safe spot.

Peaceful Bay near Albany...more of a longer trip though on the southern coast - beautiful.

Jurian Bay, Dongara, anywhre up that way is nice.

1 2nd Wedge Island. It's lovely there.

It seems impossible to ever get in to Guilderton? I've never had luck booking at anytime. I assumed it was long term used.

I grew up in W.a and as a kid we camped all the time at Sue's Bridge. I remember it being awesome!!! This was 20 years ago though so no idea what it's like now lol. I'm such a good help!!

We stayed at Taunton Farm in Yallingup - was fantastic for the kids - farm stay style and Palandri wines is next door with a great kids corner !!!
Great central place to explore the MR area and caves

Love Bunbury Holiday Village just out of town too - that's our January holiday place - have to drive to the beach but like the camping area there.

For north Dongara has a couple of nice caravan parks on the beach and they have good areas for kids to swim at some of the beaches.

Further north Shark Bay is always nice as well.

Jurien also has a caravan park close to the beach that looks really nice (havent stayed there just seen it when driving on thru).

Guilderton is impossible to get into. We book each year and have to book the day bookings open a year in advance and they fill up really really fast, plus it can get crazy busy there which can sometimes take the fun out of it.

I second Hamelin Bay near augusta and another great spot we like is Dwellingup - Poole Lane Reserve, not on the beach, but has a river running through it, great for swimming/fishing......

Guilderton is also fantastic, but i think you need to mortgage your house to get a spot there...... we stay at Seabird (no camping, just chalets) which is a bit further up the coast, then drive down to guilderton to use the facilities....

Last school holidays we camped at Club capricorn in Yanchep. Its not a long drive to get to and you can do day trips to Guilderton, Yanchep National Park, Gin Gin etc. The caravan park isnt flash but we enjoyed our stay, you can walk to the beach, play tennis, swim in the pool and a few othe things like volleyball net, basketball hoop etc.
