I need a new roasting pan and I'm after some recommendations. The one I currently have was a cheapy bought a few years ago and it has really annoying handles on either end which are longer than the dish is deep, so it makes the pan difficult to remove from the slatted oven rack.

I'd like one which can be used on a gas cook top for searing/browning meat and then can go straight into the oven (thereby capturing all the good stuff for use in a gravy without having to use two pans).

Please tell me what you love about the one you have!

I have a scanpan roaster - it is so easy to clean - you could literally lick it clean! They're a bit pricey, so look out for specials! original.gif

Scanpan is on my wishlist too. They are very heavy duty!
Although, sometimes I hanker for one that can be covered, and in that case Jamie Oliver has a nice, heavy one with a lid. I think it's in his professional range.

Sometimes kitchenware direct have some good deals on top end cookware - sign up for an email newsletter and you won't miss out.

My parents have a Scanpan one that they love.

As PP said, a bit pricey; Peters of Kensington and Everten online sometimes have ithem on sale original.gif

Thanks so much, everyone. I have been thinking a scanpan one would be fantastic! I have a couple of pans by scanpan (a griddle and a frying pan) which I bought on sale and I love them, I just wanted confirmation that the expense would be worth it.

Does the scanpan one not come with a lid? Might check out Jamie Durie's one and compare.

I haven't heard of kitchen direct but will sign up - I love a sale! Ps of K do have great sales too. I'll get hunting.

Thank you original.gif

I got a Scanpan one for Christmas and I love it! So easy to clean. original.gif I have only used it in the oven - I'm too scared to use it on the stove top. Is it safe to use on the stove top? unsure.gif I guess it is, but I'm scared cool.gif

I'd keep looking rather than buy scanpan. Baccarat or one of the non-coated pans is what we are looking at now. 4 years later and our scanpans are breaking down on the surface despite being used as was supposed to be OK. Kitchenwaredirect does have regular good specials.

I have had three varieties of Scanpan -
Fusion5 (stainless finish) - good
Classic (non-stick) - surfaces degrade over time no matter how I try to look after them as directed!
CTX (non-stick) - HEAPS better than Classic - very impressed. Have had my frying pan and saute pan for over a year (daily use) and they're pristine. My classic frying pan lasted a month or two!

My roasting dish is Fusion5 - but if I was buying one today I'd get CTX, no doubt.

(Definitely from Peter's or similar though!)

(Rules for keeping surfaces good = 1. no high high heat 2. no commercial spray oils 3. clean clean clean with hot water and soap after each use so that no oily residue is left)

Thanks Fancy and Epic, I'll look out for them.

Mum swears by Baccarat, although she doesn't have their roasting pan, so I'll take a look and see what I can find out.

Thanks for all your suggestions Tounge1.gif)

I would stay clear of scanpan. I have 2 pieces both of which have been replaced under warraty but the new ones have the same issue with the coating "pitting"

I have a bessemer roasting pan which is amazing, I use on on cooktop and oven and its so easy to clean. Mine is the deep dish extra large and also is great for lasagne for a crowd!

The only downside is thats is really heavy (and $$) but worth it.I am actually going to get a smaller one too
